Forgive me if this subject has been covered already.

The reference I covet is the 1016. Unfortunately they are out of my price range and I was thinking I would go for an early 14270 - tritium dial & case with holes.
However my thoughts keep going back to a 5500 Explorer. Size wise, my skinny wrists would be fine with the smaller size of a 5500, but the problem lies in tracking down a legitimate example.

Note: a big part of the fun, for me at least, is the chase. Its like an itch that needs scratched. And I kind of dig the 5500 references slightly controversial reputation. So should I begin the hunt, or should I just go the sensible route?
