Out of the two options. I would definitely go for the AP ROC. Now if you said the WG OF Daytona than I might have a problem lol

The AP is beautiful and is probably the better watch, I just didn't get on with it. It was a bit too big and cumbersome for me and turned out to be a massive ding magnet (but that's probably more me being clumsy). I was always worried about knocking it
My (500) Daytona is far more user friendly and I can just put it on and forget about it. The RG OF is definitely on my list as one to get in the future

I'd sell the TT and get both, ROC first.

He can wait a few months till SIHH, but if not out, then no point waiting another year and a half at best.

Go with the Daytona. I used to own 15400 and the long lug didnt fit my small wrist well....

I wear my choco dial RG Daytona most of the time now.

Just as I want to put it.
I’ve tried on both watches and AP is just too bulky and heavy.
The Daytona is way more comfortable, slimmer and elegant and probably more reliable.
Only problem with the Daytona on OF strap is you can’t dress it up.

the price will be much, much higher IMO. Compare RRP of the overseas chrono with the old movement vs when it went in-house. Up 5K at least if my memory is correct.

The AP is priced right for the movement it contains, and it will be priced right with an in-house too, comparatively. Those numbers will be different.

Both great choices. My nod goes to the Daytona - It's classic, precious metal, exclusive, durable, dependable, versatile, great quality, unbeatable value, great movement and superior Rolex service. I've owned AP's before and have always been disappointed with their quality, reliability and US service center. Both great choices, just my 2 cents.

Agree this is a Fredrique Piguet 1185 movement column wheel chronograph. This is hardly suffering and is considered one of the most beautiful chronograph movements out there. But it is not in house.

I have owned this watch and thought it was absolutely amazing. I only got rid of it because I used it in a trade to get an AP perpetual calendar.

I have both watches. Daytona is much better with my experience. i bought my AP ROC brand new and it stopped working 2 times in one year!! which was fixed by AP twice. the third time i sent it to AP was 2 months ago with one of the pusher was missing!!!!!!! i wear it 10% and Daytona 90% of the time and Daytona never stopped and pushers are always robust.

AP unfortunately has movement issues and is fragile

Well we can hope.. sources say the new “in-house” chrono is already developed but if sold today will be too high a price for the current market. good to know its coming we just dont know when

That AP is a stunner. Not really an AP guy, but I think I would go with that over the Daytona on OF.

If it is ready, and we heard that last year too, then now would the ideal time, market is so buoyant now it could absorb a higher price, maybe in a couple of years the global economy might be different.

Better bracelet and look also more versatile
Can get afternarkt rubber strap to switch it
Depends on your overall collection

or an AP rubber strap

IMO their straps are better than the aftermarket ones. They have blue and black for sure

The price of that daytona oysterflex is bananas considering how you could just add a bit more and get full gold.

Lol really? It’s 5k more than the STAINLESS Daytona and the Royal Oak is STEEL for around the same price. If anything, the Daytona is a steal given its small premium relative to SS.

When the ALL GOLD versions goes ceramic,

those are going to be some beautifull pieces

Right now they look a bit dated, beautifull anyways
