How tough is a Kirmet to find?

How difficult is it to find a Kermit Submariner? I notice David charges a pretty good premium for this particular watch.

Thanks!!

It sounds like you found one. So not very difficult, I guess.

Finding one on grey market like davidsw is easy.

Better rephrase:

How difficult is it to find a Kermit Submariner on AD..
Now thats a different thing.

Considering it has been discontinued this entire decade, the odds of an AD (that doesn't sell used) having one are astronomically slim, if not outright non-existent. Used ones aren't that hard to find, but they're expensive, due to high demand.

As long you willing to pay, you will find it. also depends on which version you are looking for or just about any LV.

Yeah, I'm wondering why the notion of a Kermit at an AD even got brought up. Are people confusing it with a Hulk?

It really depends. Kirmets can be difficult to track down, but I’ve heard some people have found Kermits with relative ease. Batmans and Spider-Mans on the other hand can be tricky, but Hulkys, Pepsis and Smurfys can be had if you know what you’re doing. Just don’t get me started on the Coca Colas.....

I guess the astronomical odds hit me in the face. However, the price hit me even harder.

I was at an AD in Carmel last weekend and they sell vintage as wells as new. They have a NOS Kermit among the vintage watches and I believe it can be yours for $25K.

Yeah as others have said, not difficult to find, if you’re not expecting to pay the original retail price. You mentioned premium, but it’s been 15 years since that watch released, so aside from the flat 4 or some rare dial variation, I don’t think it’s exactly a premium, just the regular increased market value.

16610lv
Not difficult to find
But is now easily selling over RRP of 116610lv - it's new evolved version.
Both sell very well over RRP on grey market

There's lots of dial and bezel variants of the 16610lv however and has become a good collection piece, with serious collectors wanting each variant, there are people maybe owning up to 4 or 5 of these watches

Produced for approx 7/8 years, the 16610lv is reported to have been released in a ratio of as few as 1:5 against the "normal" 16610ln - so it was already rarer due to this. Then add the rarity of each font or bezel type, then add the discontinued status. Then add the formerly ugly duckling turned swan phenomenon. Then add the unattainable 116610lv...... What you've got is av very respected and collected watch. Once the price goes up then everyone else wants one too

This thread makes my head hurt...reading comprehension is our weak point

Kermits are somewhat few and far between. Pre-owned only. I don’t find the premium worth it though.

The reference he’s asking about is the 16610LV.

As others have said, not difficult to find, but not cheap for a nice complete set.
