Icon5 The name of purchaser on the warranty card

Hello everyone.
I bought two Rolex Daytona 2 years ago from a former colleague of my wife.
The watches came with Full set and purchase receipt.
His name is on the warranty cards. "Name of Purchaser"
Date of purchase : 8/12/2012 (both watches)
It's come to our attention that he was condemned by justice recently and moved to Dublin - Ireland. He's being sought.

I'm worried . Is it going to affect the value of my watches ?
If I decide to sell the watches I will have to sell them without the warranty cards ?
Also , I wonder if I can go to Rolex and register the watches as the new owner.

Depends on how notorious he is. If he's really well known it might be worth more!!!!

I don't think anybody cares whose name is on the warranty card. I probably wouldn't have even thought to look the person up..

Either way, the warranty has expired. Don't throw the cards away as many buyers prefer a "full set." If you want a new warranty card you can send the watches to RSC for service and they will come back with 2 year warranties and fresh cards.

Deferentially, it is going to affect the value of your watches - they'll be priceless

Don't worry, nothing going to happen

If he did something cool then it could increase the value. If he did something creepy, the opposite.

Good news, get the watches serviced and you'll get a new card with your name.

How's that?

Hopefully he’s a notorious serial killer so you can make a quick buck or two

Haha.

Not so sure though. Pablo Escobar's watch didn't go for much of a premium.

I think you're over thinking it. I don't think anyone would care enough to even look up a persons name. They'd be too enthralled with the watch!

Does not matter as the warranty is expired

The only risk would be if he owes someone else money, related to bankruptcy within two years or so of selling you the watches - AND if you gave him far less than market value.
His status won't lower the value of the watch when you sell it. If the buyer recognizes the name just say "wow, it's a common name. Probably lots of people with that name. Want the watch at the price i'm offering?" You don't have to declare "previously owned by a criminal" when you sell this.

Get a black permanent mark and completely ‘black out’ the name strips.

The warranty card only activates the warranty period for that specific watch reference and serial number. The name is not registered into any database. RSC, has no information as to the purchaser of the watch, as it could have been given to someone as a gift after it was purchased and is not in the recipient's name. Unless the watch serial number is reported stolen, RSC will just take your pedigree information, and form of payment for the service. If it is stolen, RSC will not return the watch.

And after all that... The warranty is expired anyway, so the warranty card is moot.

The only other possibility is if that serial number went in for service before. Then for sure the last service date and name will be listed.

I got a couple flips out there, only 2. If you see my name, send me the card, I autograph, for either $50, “all, the best”... or for $100” you’re the best”
Best

Hmmm...if the prior owner is a crook on the run, could these watches be purchased with stolen funds? Rolex and/or the Law may be watching for them to turn up for seizure. Just a thought that nobody else seems to have addressed yet. I certainly hope that's not the case and your watches are clear of issues. Good luck and hope it works out.
