Explorer 214270 Owners - How is the polished bezel holding up?

I recently purchased a 214270 mk2 and I am smitten.

I've read complaints about the polished bezel getting damaged easily and looking beat up. It's a common argument for going ceramic over the Exp. Can any long time owners share their experience or pictures with how the bezel has held up after some heavy wear?

Looks good. Has it been your daily watch?

Bought mine October last year IIRC. It has some scratches on the bezel (and definitely on the bracelet and the clasp). The scratches on the bezel are only visible from certain angle.

Those scratches do not bother me at all. I mean, I wear it every day (in 1 or 2 weeks rotation with my Moonwatch), it's my GADA watch, so it will get scratches.

Last month I went on a Hajj pilgrimage, during that 26 days, I never take it off my wrist, I wore it 24/7 and during those 26 days it got some additional scratches for sure...but I'd do it again.

I put a little dent in the bezel the first week I got mine. Other than that it's held up well. Lovely watch

Mine looks good still, 3 months of wear. I actually contemplated removing it and having the finish flattened out. It’s too shiny for my taste. I will likely leave it but i thought a polished look like the bracelet would look great.

My Explorer has been my daily wearer since 15th December 2017.
It literally hasn't been off apart from cleaning. Put a Everest strap on during the warm summer months and I now think I'll leave it on to prevent the bracelet clasp from getting too beat up.

That's an amazing way to pick up those scratches! :)

I had mine for about six weeks (from new) before selling it - the scratches on the bezel was one of the main reasons I started to get fed up with the watch.

I have a small light scratch on mine. Had it for~1 year in a rotation, but when I'm wearing it I'm wearing it... Yard work, camping, hiking, etc.

Don’t have the explorer but have the DJ41 with the smooth bezel and o think bezels are typically safe unless you intentionally mean to scratch them. It’s for sure less likely to scratch than the bracelet and the lugs

i have worn mine everyday for the last 7 years and there is a good amount of damage to it but it is hard to see except in the right lighting/angle.

I've owned mine for coming up on 2 years now. I'm careful, but not to the point of totally babying it. There's really only 1 scratch and a tiny nick I can see at a glance, but there are some micro scratches that are much harder to see. All in all, it essentially looks mint at anything more than 6 inches from my face.

These look great. If anything, it’s a watch that looks better with a few battle scars.

Hasn't been a daily recently. When I first got it in January, it was being worn almost daily. But not in the past couple of months.

I also put a dent on mine in the first week. Banged against a glass door at the mall. But it’s not too bad.

OP I think it’ll be fine. Not as easy to scratch as those PCLs.

Not more than any other watch. I do not pamper my watches, they are eaqualy worn out, but I do rotate 7-10 watches on a regular basis.

Lash-L- ouch that's some scratching! Although to be honest I bet its the lightning more than anything!

Mine is still pristine and I'm hoping to keep it that way for as long as possible!

I'm always surprised that people complain about scratches on polished surfaces. I tend to think they get hidden the most, because of the reflective finish. Either way, who cares? It's a steel sport watch, so the more scratches the better.

I clipped the lower left lug like 3 days into wearing it, pulling a beer out of the yeti bag. Don’t pull beers out of the yeti bag with your left hand lol.

The good thing with the Explorers bezel is you can just use a Cape Cod yourself at home and/or replace at RSC reasonably if you get anything too too bad

You'll be fine. For mirror surfaces, I like to use a Sunshine brand cloth on them once or twice per year, being very careful not to rub on the brushed satin portions of the case at all. Just a couple of minutes with a Sunshine cloth can smooth out the swirlies and bring back the bright luster.

I recommend doing as little as possible yourself. It'll look fine for years, and when it goes for service you can let a professional give it a light once-over.

I don't have the explorer but the OP39 is the same bezel. I've worn it just about daily. Will be 1yr next month and still looks the same as when I bought it. The clasp and band I can't say the same for.

Two and a half year of daily wearing. The most beats are protected by the sapphire. The rest isn't really noticeable for the eye.

Doesn’t the OP39 have a domed bezel, the Exp has a smooth bezel? They’re not the same if I’m not mistaken.

Exactly! The watch always looks amazing. But honestly the patina really makes these watches look nice. I remember it hurting at first. This watch is 5 years old though now.

I have hit a few doors and took a few dents on that 6 o’clock side of the bezel. . Crystal has a few little dings. All can be remedied if need be. I only have this one watch so it gets used...
