Looking for advice on renting a submariner 116610LN

I purchased a Panerai and didn’t like it and then a datejust and didn’t like it. Looking to rent before buying a submariner. Anyone know of any good rental options? I live in New York. Thanks!

rent one? is that really necessary? I would think someone in NYC would have one you can try on for a bit and see how it fits. If you can't tell within the first few minutes whether you like it or not, it's probably not the watch for you.

Today this is an easy sell for no loss or at least same as the cost of rental so might as well buy it.

What didn’t you like about the PAM and the DJ?

Got a Pam 510 and decided I needed a date window and the crown protector was painful. DJ 41 with fluted and black dial on oyster and it was too fancy for me. Hence - I want a sub date!!

You may just not be into watches if you've been so indecisive so far...in all seriousness save some money and buy a Tag if you need to rent first. You need to live with the watch a while. Maybe get a feel for the style of watch you prefer with the cheaper watch first.

getting it at an AD is a rental. If you don't like it, you sell it to a secondary dealer, minus rental fee. Simple

Well the Panerai and the DJ are just about as opposite as you can get

Perhaps you’re a two watch guy

The Submariner date should check a lot of your boxes, but it won’t wear anything like the two you’ve already owned.

Good luck and welcome

Never heard of a Rolex rental service. Maybe you've touched on a huge potential business model. Folks can show off a different watch every week. The authorized dealers will go out of business because thousands of us can scratch the itch for a different watch without the big cash outlay. Might become the Uber or AirBNB of fine watches.

Or just buy a Submariner and sell it if you don't like it.

You could try buying a similar diver's watch such as those produced by Squale. They have a strong following and they make watches that are very similar to the Submariner in terms of size and fit etc. You could try one of these whilst waiting for the call from your AD for a Submariner.......so it might be a long "try out" period!! Good luck with whatever you decide.
