GMT quality issue

I just picked up a brand new GMT root beer from a reputable grey dealer, and had some concerns regarding the quality. This particular dealer does not send the warranty card with watches, which was to my surprise, but it did come with full plastics, box, booklet, and hang tags. Can anyone tell me if this gap between the bezel and casing is normal? Just doesn’t seem like Rolex quality to me.

the gap is normal, but without the warranty card is unacceptable.

That gap is normal and with the warranty card unless card was activated by a official Rolex AD you will not have any Rolex warranty, only the grey dealer warranty if they give one.

The gap is normal; a newer watch from a reputable grey without a warranty is not normal… hope the price was adjusted accordingly.

Thanks for the responses. Apparently this grey dealer does not include manufacturer warranty cards with any new watch they sell. Wish I would have known that prior to making the purchase

The gap is normal. The grey dealer's practice isn't normal. Not including the warranty card and not disclosing this beforehand means nothing good, OP. I'd demand to be given the card or a full refund.

Putting up with such practices with an AD is one thing; not nice but not unheard of.
You're paying top dollar to Greys particularly to NOT have this kind of bs.

A true Grey Market watch will not have a valid warranty, and many do not provide the Rolex warranty card, but do provide their own warranty.

Flippers and resellers/secondary market watches often have a warranty and include the card. They are not the Grey Market.

Wouldn’t go grey on a rootbeer as they are not that insane a wait from an AD. If it was a Pepsi/Batman, could understand.

That makes sense as demand for rootbeers is way less than for BLRO/BLNR.

This. ADs get more in demand models than you’d think with the exception of SS SkyDwellers. The demand just outstrips supply.

My AD said likely around 6 months or even less and my spend history is fine but not massive. I just decided against it and went with a SS DJ instead. Anything that could reasonably be had in under a year is worth waiting for from an AD IMO. But of course wait time is AD dependent. Certainly nowhere near what you would for an SS GMT

Just for my record. How would you like to see it then? With a dent in the bezel?

I’d like to not see a gap like that in a watch north of $15k….there’s definitely ways to resolve the gap without a “dent in the bezel”

My blro has a small gap but seems less than yours. Might be the end links of the oyster.

Yea, it’s not too bad on full stainless models. Just seems more noticeable on TT models

Personally i think you are too picky about it. As you can see the Oyster band has a curve and that is what creates the "gap". It is normal and just the way it is.

Stop watching your watch like that. Enjoy how it is. If you want THE perfect watch, you have to create it yourself.

Beautiful watch, gap is normal, not having the warranty card should reflect in the purchase price

You’re at least the third person who bought the watch after the AD, and brand new Rolex comes with a warranty card.

The gap is normal. The bezel will have a slight spring to it if you press on the ceramic side.

What do you think would happen if there was not a gap and the metal of the bezel butted up against the metal of the bracelet? It’s not just for show you know.

Just checked my Daytona and there is a gap just like yours. But I have to ask, how do you make a big purchase without knowing the scope of delivery?

Them not including the warranty card but including everything else, at least to me, is a red flag. If I was buying a watch that was being marketed as 'new', I would absolutely want that card. Them withholding it would make me wonder if I was buying a watch that was manufactured quite some time ago.

My AD gets a lot less TT CHNRs than SS BLROs or BLNRs. However, the CHNR is "easier" to get from the AD. It comes down to the length of the queue and if you can get on it.
