Why would they? The Market is the market. If the market puts the value of a Pepsi at 25K, why does it matter if Rolex increases it’s price from 10 to 11K?
If the Grey could get 26 or 27K for the watch they would be charging that already.

gonna depend on the specific watch and how elastic the demand is on it... logically most of them, yes.

Yeah exactly. I think this simply squeezes the grey market. It's been a great run for those companies, but I would not want to be in that business at the moment unless I were one of the 4 - 6 main players.

I'm sure the main reasons for any price increases have to do with (1) inflation, (2) systemic differences in currency exchange rates, (3) inputs costs, including precious metals, and (4) to a smaller degree overall market demand (perhaps).

I have been going back and forth on that white dial Daytona that my AD offered me a few months ago. I guess I better go pick it up before September 1.

Did we find out where the price increases are expected. I have not heard anything regarding the US. Apparently, the UK and Japan?

with the dollar being strong I would not necessarily expect it here... but then, who knows how they will see it.. because inflation is eating away at their margins all over the world, as are gray market / flippers... Every Rolex thats sells above MSRP on the secondary market is Rolex leaving money on the table.

Yes Japan confirmed with new price list available at ADs. Around 5-7% across.

not sure if the Canadian dollar is holding up with the US, but me thinks the strong dollar might save us from one here..

Generally speaking Rolex has always tried to keep the “actual cost” of their watches the same globally. Price increases aren’t always worldwide, sometimes just in the countries whose currency has fluctuated. They used to use the Swiss Franc as their bogey, would assume it still is.
The US went many years without an increase, I think three in the last three recently but never twice in a year AFAIK.

I do not agree with your response, grey market price will eventually go up, yes, if a grey is buying a watch £1000 over listed, then when the prices go up any watch offered will be still £1000 over the new price.

That's not how supply and demand works. If Rolex raised the price to £100,000 for a steel Sub, would grays be able to then support selling a watch for £101,000? Of course not. The closer MSRP gets to the actual market value, presumably the Gray price, the sooner we reach equilibrium and watches end up back on shelves.

Agreed. Or another way to put it. When you are deciding how much you’re willing to spend on a preowned watch, do you care at all what the previous owner originally paid for it?

The market price is the market price.

I picked up a watch today from my AD in the UK and he also confirmed the price increase but didn’t know how much.

Strangely, the last two times I have been in there they have had 1 watch for sale, the first was a yellow gold DD with white dial, I think the price was £27K and today a 36mm DJ with a diamond dial which was £11.1k. Might mean a few more watches are being made available???
