Incoming Pelagos 39

I recently picked up the new Pelagos 39 and I absolutely love it. It's not perfect but probably the strongest Tudor offering in a long time. Here are some initial pictures. Currently enjoying it on the rubber bracelet. I just wish they had quick release end links!

Excellent photos. Also would like to know what are your dislikes about the watch?

Congrats

At this point I think smarter people buy the Tudor vs the Rolex Sub.

At 45% of the price you get 110% of the watch (plus an extra strap and better lume) and not every ubiquitous junior banker / consultant / middle management guy has one...

Congratulations very nice, I put my name down for one on Thursday when I picked up my GMT BLRO. It’s a great looking watch and feels great on the wrist.

Looking forward to getting one too!

Enjoy 😁

The biggest one for me is the faff of changing straps - having to use the same end links for the rubber steap means it is a lot of effort. Easy to remove the bracelet but harder to get it back on. I wish they had a decent quick release system. Also the 21mm lug width isn't ideal but doesn't bother me too much.

The other issue I noticed with the rubber strap is that although it is well made and strong and fairly comfortable the shoulder areas are reinforced which makes it a little too stiff near the top of each end of the strap. Also the buckle doesn't sit exactly flush so it can push into the underside of the wrist. Having said that after a few days the strap has bedded in and I'm finding it more comfortable.

The last issue I noticed is that the lume on the hands does not charge as quickly/easily as the the markers which being solid lume are insane. So if not using a UV torch but in normal use it can appear that the hands have dimmer lume than the markers/bezel. However, I have tested this and I can confirm that although the hands do not activate as easily (unless using a UV torch) they do last the same length as the markers/bezel. I have check the legibility in the dark after a 6 hours and it is still legible and the hands appear to have a similar glow. This I think is the most important aspect of lume - the longevity. In lowish light of lumed the white surrounds of the hands kind of makie them look different but it doesn't concern me.

Hope that helps. They are fairly minor niggles and overwhelmingly I enjoy the watch. I have warmed up to it even more after a week on the wrist. It just looks so good in so many situations and feels like a perfect daily. I also have a Sub and it feels different enough to have and enjoy both. The differences are the extra strap, the square markers (which makes more sense with the snowflake hands), the flat sapphire, the lumed bezel, the lighter weight titanium etc.

Great watch and even better pics! I'll stick with my 500m LHD, but I understand the attraction. Enjoy !

Thank you. I used a canon 750d with the 100mm 2.8 macro, 17-55 2.8 and the last few pictures were just quick smartphone shots

I will be honest and I haven't really paid much attention to this model. I have to say that this post has really caught my eye! Beautiful piece! A huge congrats! I'm really lovin' the lume on the bezel. That looks amazing in the dark! I wish Rolex would do a lumed bezel. I also love the brushed finish on the bezel too. Enjoy that beauty!

Those square markers really work on this.

I genuinely think the dial is more balanced on this than the Submariner.

Congrats!

I love what they did with the bezel. I've been saying here for years the future of the polished and brushed bezels on Rolex will be ceramic once Rolex perfects the ability to give them a metal like finishing appearance. Now which Rolex will be the first to see these in a silvery metal look alike that is actually ceramic. My bet is on the Milgauss update.

Thank you for the detailed response. All valid concerns, and I definitely agree with you regarding the lack of a quick change strap / bracelet.

Perhaps this the wrong thread, but in considering this watch, I am angst about titanium and that it will scratch (and show) more easily than ss.
