I'm thinking of picking up a Tangente 38 Date in the next week.

Love the design and how thin it is.

Date setting is a pain, but not a deal breaker.

I like my Nomos. Cannot say I wear it often due to heavy collection. When I saw the date change process, I went no date.

I was a bit surprised when I learned Nomos watches with dates don't have quickset, but regardless, Nomos is one of the best values in the game this side of Seiko! Their Neomatik movement adds a ton of price, but their Alpha movements are still a great deal

They're very cool, love the clean design. But as with many watches I found them underwhelming IRL, didn't do it for me.

Like them. A lot. Had a few thruout the years. This is the one in my collection now. I think it is the coolest watch they make. The club campus at $1600 is a steal.

I almost bought a special edition Nomos made by Ace jewelers. The dial had tweaked the hour markers in the De Stijl style...

I just didn’t think I’d wear the watch enough I would feel like wanted to be wearing something else...if that makes sense.

My thoughts on Nomos are: fantastic design across the board save for their toothpick lugs. On all of their watches I've been interested in, lugs remind me of bodybuilder types who constantly skip leg day. Can't get past that unfortunately... or I would have had a ton in my watch box now.

The Club Campus and Club Date are nice, thin manual winds. Especially if you go for display back. You are also getting 100m water resistance with these.

I also really like their new autobahn sport watch.

The tangente model is the brand's original bread-and-butter dress watch. Not to my taste but I do like that it's manual and therefore a lot thinner than other dress watches in the price range, such as Seiko Presage (6R15 should stay in the divers IMO)

I probably like the Metro datum gangreserve above the best and the Lux model (which is this one):

But it's a little feminine and not exactly the best value proposition. I'm not a super big fan of Bauhaus design in watches anyways so I'll always have a reservation against buying a Nomos.

There is a lot to like about Nomos- the simple design, thin cases and movements (and in-house), nice comfortable Cordovan strap, and nice price .... I used to have a Tangente date and ended up selling it as it didn’t get much wrist time probably for a few reasons - it became too “plain” for my taste, the hands didn’t seem substantial, and the lugs started to bother me... but most of all changing the date was a PIA. As an only watch not a big deal but as one in a collection it really was a turn-off.

If you end up getting one, I would def go for the no-date version.

Thanks everyone.

The more I think about the date, the more it's bothering me.

I might end up going with the base Metro with no date. Has this alpha movement which seems decent, but side by side the Metro seemed much nicer than the Tangente. Plus that domed crystal is great.

I have Lambda 39 samtschwarz, awesome piece. I get why Nomos includes a loupe with it, wow that movement. They did a good job technically with that swing at haute horology.

I have a Nomos Metro datum. Setting the date is a pleasure, it reminds me the watch in in-house. Rolling the time to 1:00am, then back to 8:30pm, then back to 1:00am will move the date (no need to spin through a 24h cycle)... doesn’t take long to get through a few days, and the snap of the date wheel feels impressive and reliable.

I can understand how one may enjoy this task , but I would guess that most detest it. Also, not sure why you associate this lack of quickset date with “in-house”. There are plenty of in-house movements amongst various brands that make changing the date infinitely easier.

It doesn’t take that much effort to wind the watch everyday or every other day regardless you wear it or not. The date balance the dial.

Have a 38 Datum myself. The date winding is a PITA I find. Still love the watch. As above; If you’re not going for a date, get the 35 because the 38’s subdial looks off without it.
