yes they do sit a fraction of a mm lower than original, but not as much as I expected reading other threads on this subject..

anyways, thought I would contribute to those with screw OCD.

Strangley I just removed the half link on my bracelet 114060 and the screw is most definitely shorter also has a more recessed flathead than the regular link screws. That MFer was in there so tight with locktite now i have to go see the dealer for this screw. its fine but a little beat up now and its going to eat at my OCD. I even have the proper hollow ground screwdriver.

I guess maybe that's the reason RSCs replace all screws during service, because properly loctited, there's no way to remove the screw without chewing it up at least some...

oh and I know all about that OCD..

This thread freaks me out a bit.

I think I'd like to have a link taken out of my Platona, but I'm hesitant to go to a local AD because I'm not impressed with any of them and I fear their watch tech will scratch up the bracelet or damage the screws. I think I'll just wait until I'm in NYC next and take it to RSC.

Just for clarity, RSC doesn't replace bracelet screws during service....just the springbars.

Once a screw so small gets damaged very hard to take it out without damaging the link; very important to use the right screwdriver size for the job.

It's an easy DIY job with the right tools. I recently bought a precision screwdriver set to remove a link from my new Explorer. I ordered Loctite online and it's a simple process (and kind of fun if you're into doing small fix-it things). I'm glad I got all of this b/c I checked the screws on my Sub and two were a little loose.

I personally am not a big fan of locktite. My experience getting screws out of links with it have been lets say very challenging. One good trick is to place the link or bracelet in hot water for a minute or two you will be surprised how much easier it will be to remove the screw. Next invest in some good screw drivers I like the Bergeon 6899-A10 great set. You need the right tool to do the job. Good luck

Any idea on the specific size of the shorter screw this thread is regarding which connects the clasp to the bracelet? Decided to resize my bracelet last week however I ended up incorrectly removing the shorter screw connecting the clasp and managed to lose it in the process

I ordered a pack of M1.10 x 1.70 x 13.60mm screws from Cousins however the thread seems too loose when screwing it in hence it just falls out when given a tap.

Currently resulted in having to use an old nato strap on my datejust hence any help would be much appreciated!

Trying to revive this again, but I have a similar situation with my explorer ii clasp screw. Anybody know what the dimensions are for the smaller screw that connects to the clasp on the explorer ii??
