Servicing Technique

Hello folks. Just curious what technique you are using and if there is a best practice technique for removing the driving wheel on the third wheel? Are you levering them off like when removing watch hands or rotating with fingers or tweezers while lifting upwards or is there an even better way? Obviously, great care should be taken to not scratch or distort the shape of the wheel. Cheers! -Norm

Servicing Technique

I put a drop of RL5 on the post, and use a pice of peg wood to rotate the driving wheel with a slight upward motion until it comes off.

( the pallet fork must be in place to keep the train from moving)

Thank you, Adrian, for sharing your experience. I'll try your technique the next time I pull the driving wheel off. The last one I worked on, I slipped a hand removing lever under the wheel and gently rotated the wheel while lightly prying up. I am always concerned about distorting the wheel. Thanks again. Cheers! -Norm
