Hard to say no.......

So having put my name on an AD list for a SD43 four weeks ago I got the call recently saying they had a watch. I was being offered it as another customer had declined to buy at this time.

This was a surprise given the lengthy wait times frequently mentioned on this forum. Sadly the timing isn't quite right in financial terms with next spring looking better so reluctantly I have also declined the watch.

If you are next on the AD's list I hope that you enjoy the watch and wear it in good health while I wait for a few more months.

Humm, I wouldn’t put my name on the list, unless I was prepared to purchase. That’s why the lists are 10 or more deep for certain models......

Not been a fan of SD43 and I can understand why some people decline this model. A waiting list for this model IMO seems to be overhyped.

easier said than done with extended waits for almost every single professional watch, especially in the UK. Could be years sometimes.

I guess people thing they have larger wrists than they actually do. If you’re 7.25+ there’s not a watch in the world more perfect. It’s all about how it fits for you

What?? Your joking right? Grey markets are moving them as fast as LVc’s. The SD43, LVc, etc.. are not mainstream watches as they have a specific appeal to particular customer.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this. It is sold out everywhere with waiting lists. In fact, are there any Rolex flops? Granted it is no Daytona, but it wasn't a big seller before the change either. I would even surmise that the new one is outselling the old one.

Exactly. Why do people do this and join lists when they’re not in a position to buy?

I’d recommend having a spare credit card with a good limit. You can then transfer the balance onto a 0% card or something until the timing is better.

Joining a list and turning the watch down loses you instant credibility with the AD and they think “time waster”.
I actually agree with deposits to join lists for reasons like this. Weeds out people who aren’t serious.

^^Exactly^^
I literally monitored the SD43 for 6 months on a semi daily basis at all our trusted sellers as it was on my radar for purchase. Following the prices and how many at one time at sellers like DavidSW, Tony, etc.. would show it in the same level as the Hulk this summer. Inventory rotted very fast. That would be the exact opposite of “flop”. I enjoy watching and follow the Rolex market extremely close.

Yes, very strange ordering a watch and not taking it. Guess that's why deposits come into fashion

Didn't mean to start a "debate" over whether the SD43 is a flop - or not.

Just to clarify my position I asked to go onto a list as the prevailing opinion on TRF was that it would be several months at best and potentially more than a year if bought through an AD. I will be in a position to buy in the spring, but not currently. Needless to say I was somewhat surprised to get a call after 5 weeks.

As and when this happens I will take the obligatory wrist shots and post them for the interest of those that don't think the SD43 is a flop ;)

That's pretty amazing Roger. No worries, there'll be a time and place for it. Where in the country is this AD located?

Sorry if anyone took offense but it IS enjoying relatively lackluster success compared to Daytona, GMT, and SS Sky-D

I was excited for the red letters but the 43mm is not popular for most

hard to get is a constant complaint in general... and now popularity is based around which one is less hard to get than the other.

Sorry but non popular means its collecting dust in a display case. Skydweller in particular they are not supplying hardly any. Daytona is the Daytona and the GMT is brand new.
