Help me choose a Tudor Chrono

Hello TRF'S I've been thinking of picking up one of these chronos' slightly used. The first newer version Black Bay 79350 is approx. 1k more than the Heritage 70330.
I'm leaning towards the Heritage model being I think the dial has more character.
Your thoughts and advice is appreciated.

The 79350 has a much better movement but agree that the heritage has a better dial. I have though about this before and for the money I’d probably be looking at a omega speedy!

I don’t own either so no bias. I like the Black Bay Chrono. I think it looks better and the movement is fantastic and unique. Enhanced Breitling B01 movement. Fantastic value.

Do you have a chance to try both of them? Hard to buy without seeing them.

I REALLY like the dial coloring on the Heritage models (especially the blue), but when I tried it, it did nothing for me. I felt the dial was a lot 'flatter' than I was expecting.

The Black Bay was just the opposite. Was a little "meh" about the pictures, but on the wrist it's a great piece. I was impressed.

At the beginning of this year I hesitated between the black bay and a vintage Tudor chrono.

And chose an early 79270 with Rolex marking on the winder and on the back. It could also have been a Big Block.

I prefer vintage because of the tri-compax configuration.

Now, between the black bay chrono and heritage chrono, my preference would be for the BB chrono.

I have a personal bias on this one. In my opinion, an amazing watch.

The Black Bay does not photograph well at all. You have to see it in person to realize how nice it is.

I’m a huge proponent of this watch, it’s my favourite in my collection so I am biased.

The weight and feel of it is far superior to the Heritage. It feels like a tank on the wrist and can take a beating.

If you can swing it, the big blocks are pretty popular now from a more vintage perspective.

Heritage for sure...the Tudor Black Bay Chromo circle hour markers look very off to me...if it had sticks it would look WAY better IMHO!

I like my two Tudor Chrono models. The Blue is just a bit thick like the Black Bay models

I definitely prefer the Black Bay to the heritage but it all boils down to what you feel comfortable with. Good luck find your choice!!!

I have seen the Black Bay and while I never liked it in photos, it looked great to me in person. I like the more detailed second markings on the sundial and the tach ring. (I realize you can use the hour ring on the Heritage like a GMT).

I prefer the THC Grey, which was the first watch released in the Tudor Heritage line (2010), for a few reasons.

1. The Grey’s sub dials are recessed, and give more depth to the dial (more apparent in real life than in the pic below).
2. The tip of the minute hand touches on the minute markers, whereas on the Blue there is some space, making it more fiddly to set precisely (something important with this movement, as there is some lag on the take-up of the minute hand).
3. The home-plate markers hold more lume, so are brighter.
4. The Grey’s sub dials are more balanced, with three sets of numbers on each side, and less busy than the more colourful blue ones.
5. I think the black/grey/white/orange colour scheme is more versatile.

Also, (and this is just a minor thing that probably no one else would care about), the reference number of both – 70330 – is a continuation of 7033/0, which was a Grey model produced but never put on the market in the 1970s (see last pic below). The THC Blue is based on the 7169, not the 7033.

There’s a good comparison of both (to each other and to the originals) here: http://timetapestry.blogspot.hk/2014...intage-vs.html

Thanks so far to everyone. I tried on the BB, I'm going to try on the Heritage next. So far I'm liking the black dial H in pics. Nice history to know on the 7033/0, thanks Old Expat Beast.
