If you would like to wear it, in the next 2 plus years, you do. Or buy the DJ Blue

Should I pay over retail?

If you want it now then buy it. Life is too short.

EDIT: just saw you picked one up, congrats!

Congrats! I did the same and bought a black sky dweller over retail brand new last week. I tried AD for SS models in whole APAC, UK and FR, and no way to get any of them except you have bought tons of day date or date just. Therefore paying a bit of a premium is ok if you like the watch.

Congrats. Not that my opinion matters, but I think you made the right call. You could have Bren waiting years. If the money isn’t an issue, then it’s worth the uptick for the pleasure you will get.

Congrats again.

Exactly my thoughts Steve. Ain’t gonna be getting this model from an AD anytime soon!

There is nothing magic about MSRP. Vendors work on multiples of 3 to 10x cost of goods. We'll never know what their multiple is. Paying over MSRP is not a thing, it just changes the multiplier. To the people who say the wait is parti of the experience, what do you mean? Do you wait years to buy a car you want?

Congratulations, great looking reference, and if it’s worth it to you to pay over retail then that’s all that matters.

Great looking watch.

I think you made the right decision, if it puts a smile on your face and doesn't dent your wallet beyond repair then do it.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring.

Congrats, ultimately we are a Watch forum not a Money forum so if it is in your best interests then go for it.

My problem is that I just can't justify buying a bunch of stuff at the AD that I don't want in order to enable me to get priority on a list for desirable sports models.....out of principle there is also part of me that doesn't want to give grey market dealers the satisfaction of me paying premium.

As silly as this may sound, I would rather Rolex to change their pricing on desirable models (ie. the daytona, blue skydweller etc..) to 20-25k....but doubtful that will ever happen.

Rant over.
