Submariner 114060 vs Sea Dweller 116600

For daily use, which one would you choose?
Submariner 114060 or Sea Dweller SD4K 116600.

I have a Datejust 16234 36mm and an Explorer ll 16570 polar

definitely the sub no date. if you need to read the date also, get the sub date.

I’d ask a couple of questions to hopefully help you decide which is best for you...
1. Do you need/want the date complication (being the obvious question first!)?
2. Do you prefer the smaller fit of the Sea Dweller, more like a 5 digit Rolex? This is despite its greater thickness.
3. Do you want a less common piece, which you are less likely to see others wearing?
4. How much do you want to spend?
Answering the above should help you arrive at a decision. Symmetry is a little more subjective that the above questions, I find the SD4K more symmetrical despite the date. Both watches are fantastic, my first was the Sub and am now settled and loving the SD4K!
You can’t loose whatever you go with, so make sure to share your choice in due course and congrats in advance.

SD easily. It looks better and a watch without a date is pretty much useless to me.

SD all day long. I’m biased.

I had the SD4K and sold it. Have the 114060 now and prefer it because I like a thinner watch. IMO, thicker sport watches don’t look as good as thinner counterparts.

Why? The thicker the watch, the more you see steel and case and less “ watch face “ at many angles. I also think thicker watches look less elegant, too “bulby” off the wrist. I did prefer the minute markers of the bezel on the SD and the slightly better (IMO) contoured lugs
Of the SD, though. Still, I think the Sub looks and feels better overall.

Sub if you don't need the date.

SD4K makes for a great daily wear watch. I look at my watch to remind myself of the date too many times a day to go without it.

I just bought the SD4K, and I can't get it off my wrist. I love it.

The main aspect that got me into the SD4K compared to no date sub, is the shaved lugs.

I personally prefer the 5 digit case size, and the SD4K combines that size with modern watch durability.

Are you able to get both at MSRP ?

SD4K without question

I really don’t like the “square-ish” of the Sub

I know GMT has the same case but it doesn’t seem as square ( perhaps optical illusion)

I like the aesthetics of the Sub over the SD but most of all the added thickness and weight would annoy me.

I don't need a 15mm thick watch as a daily and I don't do deep sea saturation diving.

I prefer and chose the SubC over the SD but it's not my daily since I bought my Polar. The SD4K is a great piece if you want a Sea Dweller but for a daily I'd suggest the 114060

Sd4k:

Date , thinner lugs, symmetry of the bezel, superior diver , robust, hefty feel, more toolwatch feeling, rare

For me personally it isn’t even a fair comparison. Everything screams 116600

114060. SD is too thick, unless you happen to be a saturation diver.

I was able to try out the SD4K A couple weeks ago and I must say while it is unique, I would definitely prefer a sub. The SD50 is a different story however, and would be a much harder choice between the two.

I prefer the SD4K. The bezel markings alone make it more useful and balanced-looking.

I'm not crazy about the extra thickness of the SD. As it is my 5 digits get worn more than my 114060 because I favor their size.

I chose the SD4K against SubC, because one can buy a SubC a lot easier than the SD4K. A less common watch.
Figured if I wanted a sub down the road, I should have no trouble sourcing one, new or pre-owned.

I love the look of both.

I am absolutely in love with the SD4K.

My vote goes to the SD4K. I’m a fan of the bezel, HEV and caseback markings.

Possibly only because I’m a diver however. One of my dive buddies in the 90’s would wear his grandad’s SeaDweller on a black nato. Great memories.

I feel everybody will be picking the SD4K date, but for the extra $3-4K you need to pony up for it, wasn't worth it to me. Lots more I could do with the $4K, would gladly ask people or look at my phone for the date.
