Hello Rolex friends, I am reluctant to tell my story, as I totally feel like a fool.
But here goes....
I left my guard down for an instant. My wife approved of me having a Daytona, as for quite some time, I have admired this beautiful piece, being a sports car race fan.
She said I could have a Daytona, but I have to wear it, not leave it in a box. So I took her advice, and wore it every where I went.
I am a golfer, and I remove my watch before I play and put it in a zippered pocket. I never leave my golf bag, as I am always afraid of this very moment. Christmas eve, my son is home from college, we go to the course, we are warming up on the driving range. My other buds show up on the range, and my son says nhe wantys to go get a sandwich, and takes my cart to the clubhouse, parks it, hoes inside, gets a sandwich, comes back and picks me up. Five minutes, I am away from my bag. That's it.

Someone must have seen me take it off, on the driving range, wrap it in my felt cloth store bag, place it in my zippered pocket. Then follow the cart, make the heist while he is inside the grill room.

That's it fellows, I am an idiot. I was distracted, and my usual practice of never leaving my bag alone was interrupted, by my pleaswure of playing golf with my son, who I see a few times a year.

Sorry for your loss. It seems like done by someone who has observed you. Hope your insurance will cover it.

Sorry to hear this!

Must have been some crook that saw you place your watch in to the bag. I mean to search a random golf bag at a golf course (where there's hundreds of golf bags) is highly unlikely.

Hope you'll get it on your insurance.

If you have itemized insurance, it should cover it. I am in the process of getting this done for a few of our items.

[QUOTE=miko442;3816398]My Rolex Daytona has been stolen. Black face 2010 model serial G. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced my dilemna. Not from my home, so I may be out my only beautiful watch, without the means to replace. Filed PD report, they say sit back and wait. It may turn up.

Sorry. That's a lot of watching and waiting especially at a private club? I'm wondering if everyone knew of your zip pouch. Does your club have cameras? Get on that before they get erased.

When the police say sit back and wait that usually means they are getting coffee. Check local pawn shops on your own. Make the insurance claim ASAP as others have said. Of course this helps not, but reconsider taking it off for golf.

I have handled a lot of larceny reports in my day. The watch being taken at a golf course, odds wasn't taken by member but one who works at the course. Second sounds dumb, but check every pocket in the bag inside and out stranger thing have happen.

A Semi-private club, but has a guard gate and every car that comes in, is license tagged and drivers name recorded.
Checking with the Head pro, all tee times an hour on each side of me were members. BUT... there was a suspicious guy walking around on the range, and I got a feeling he is the perpetrator.
That's all I know at this time, stilll waiting to hear from my insurance agent.

Cameras at the range?

Have them check it or give to the police.

The club should have the tapes on a 1 month erase loop. Go, run there and have them check.

Narrow down the time that your son went to get a burger and scan the tapes.

Simple work and may prove fruitful.

Sorry for your loss - hopefully it won't be a loss :)

I know it's far-fetched, but I believe it could be one of the Club's own hired staff. Just too random that a fellow player somewhere on the range would 1) See you zip the Daytona into the bag's pocket, and 2) Rush to follow your son to Clubhouse on off chance that they could filch it.

More likely someone who handles carts, the range, pro shop, etc. saw you and had quick access to the cart as he went to get a sandwich.

Sorry about the loss.
Two years ago they broke into my house while we were out of the country on vacation and they stole several watches (Omega PO, Breitling Transocean Heritage, etc...) so I know how you feel.
Fortunately, we had taken our Rolex watches with us so we did not lose them...
Lesson learned:
Add the watches to your homeowner insurance for replacement cost (best choice) so that if the rolex prices go up you are covered with the replacement cost in case they are stolen.
Otherwise, the typical coverage on jewelry is $1,500.
I suggest you look toward the future and put this behind you.
Good luck with your insurance claim!

I'm sick to my stomach just hearing this. I am very sorry and will keep my fingers crossed for the insurance. But i do understand that even the insurance will only be a help with what you are feeling.

Sorry about the loss. I was devastated when the $100 wheels on my Canondale mountain bike were stolen when I was I college.

I don't want to be the annoying glass half full guy but you have to be thankful that the robbery didn't put your son or family in danger, it wasn't confrontational or threatening, and nobody rifled through your home. We all let our guards down sometimes and sometimes bad things happen. At least everybody is safe. You've obviously done right, and well in life to be playing golf with your son on Christmas, unlike some low-life scum who is stealing stuff and has likely been to or is probably headed to jail.

You know, I dont feel it was the cart guy, but the deputy immediately felt the same way, as he indicated "We dont discount anybody".

I'm really sorry to read this, I'd follow others' advice and quickly get in touch with your golf club so they can look at the cameras. Otherwise a visit to pawn shops will definitely help indeed, if the person who stole is in need of money he or she will get rid of your watch rather quickly, it might already be out there somewhere!

Good luck with everything!

I am so sorry to hear about this. It may be fruitless but I would tear the golf bag apart just to make sure it did not slide through some tear in the fabric somewhere.
