Buying my first Rolex - DJII

Hello, a newbie here so comments/views welcome.

Intending to purchase a new Rolex for myself, as I got some vouchers from company as bonus reward (they wanted us to spend it on high street rather than giving us cash....for whatever reason). The vouchers come in quite small denominations (£20s and £10s) but nicely sealed in packs of £500 and £1000. I will top up the remainder of the purchase price using my credit card, the vouchers will probably contribute half of the Rolex.

I've got my heart set on a DJII wither silver diamond dot dial, and had been round a few retailers (where the vouchers are redeemable) in Manchester, London and Leeds. So far the best price I got offered is 8% off list, do you think that is a good offer?

One retailer in Manchester won't negotiate until they get the watch in store, which is due to arrive at some point next week, they hinted that a 'deal' could be made but won't go further until I see the watch and would proceed.

I've read somewhere Datejusts (I and II) are common and not easily shifted at retailers, so a better bargain could be had, esp the diamond dials? i.e. compared to a submariner, GMT etc.

I've always longed for a Rolex and buying my first one is really exciting - could be a very expensive hobby from now on!

Appreciate any views. Thanks!

If they take vouchers and give you 8% or even more, go for it.

The tricky part is the limited choice of retailers who can accept the vouchers. So work the best deal you can and it will be a watch to remember.

Thanks all, the retailers I've approached are those that the vouchers are redeemable from.

I suppose reading here 8% on a DJII is not a bad deal, I will pursue that and see what happens. Is there any specific reasons why the sports ss models haven't got much discount in them, and yet their ore-owned value seemed to hold better than djs and dds?
