Thoughts on 1655 Case

Hello Folks

Looking for some input on a 1655 case that is being offered from a seller in Italy.

Looks a bit “fresh” in my eyes. Seller states “ 2.7xx.xxx serial number
i found it into a old retired watchmaker shop with many watches parts”

Thanks in advance for your input.

Joe

First time I’ve seen ‘hooked 2s’ in a serial number.

No good as stated for a few reasons incl engravings. Always question a 50 yr old without any end link indents (they cant be forged well) too, as a matter of course btw.

I passed on this one too, a little too fresh among the other reasons mentioned above.

The eBay auction for this ended on Jan 3rd @ 3100 USD + tax, shipping, etc....
Being offered again somewhere else?

Yes the seller reached out to me saying the winning bidder did not pay. He then offered it at $2800.

Requested some additional images which make it even more obvious. Apparently someone in Italy has been making these and trying to pass them for some time.

The numbers on the bezel are crap. But overall, I'm sure a lot of casual buyers would be fooled. Every year the frauds spread to new references.
