I had the 5960/1a white dial before, but I find that its bracelet is not so comfortable as the nautilus on my skinny wrist. I also find that the day night indicator slowly changes compared to my 7234 that has less complication. it takes about 2-3 hours from 6am to 9am to completely change from blue to white dots and vice versa that really irritates me. maybe just my own experience.

Design is not mainstream. Beautiful in parts, but the whole won’t appeal to most.

they should have made it colorful like this one
https://watchbase.com/patek-philippe...ns/5960-1a-011
8 years ago I was travelling at Lucerne and went to a Patek AD, all display watches were sold out and i think only 1 or 2 remaining and one of this was the 5960

Looks great That has always been my perspective on the 5960/1A. Get rid of the very dressy / shiny bracelet and put it on a strap. Then you have a great sporty looking steel Patek with 2 interesting complications (first modern automatic Patek chronograph movement combined with the Patek invented annual calendar).

There are recesses between the lugs to fit the bracelet, though. From some angles they are very visible when using a leather strap.

I really like it in white dial and if it was still available today from Patek, I would VERY strongly consider buying one. But the bracelet is it's biggest failure I think. There is just something off about it, and probably one the big reasons why that watch didn't sell as well.

They are creeping up in price recently though, at east on C24. I'd buy one with white dial if I can find a good deal, and throw on a really good red leather band on it.

Chrono without a tachymetre, really? AC pretty cool on it. But bracelet and pushers styles ain't coming back. I tried to like it enough to get one but just couldn't.

Not so if you are using a curved end strap. Just look at the picture I posted - I made sure that all bottom recesses are not visible.

That's very good news! Nice to know PP is moving away from Soprano TV series gangster-style product placement. Saw what they did on Billions, and it's nice to know PP is also getting away from seeking questionable hedge fund stock-manipulating customers too.

Am truly looking forward to the new movements with hi-tech bits and modern setting features (like we see within the Sky-Dweller) plus a five-year (or more) warranty.

I’ve always liked the retro look of the contrasting bits with the white dial. In a way it reminds me of a certain Daytona. It’s the Patek “Paul Newman”. And it looks much better on a strap.

I'd grudgingly agree. It's like the very bold face and the understated steel body just don't go together. The high contrast black and white plus the red seconds hand just don't appeal to me, and the high contrast borders on the windows for the date, especially don't appeal to me.

Because at first glance it looks like a sad clown.

it's very colour sensitive.
5960p in grey is one of my favourite Pateks,

For me it was the following:

1. different sized windows for the day of week and the month, ruining the symmetry
2. 3 different fonts for the numbers: date / outer ring 1-2-3-4..-12) / inner rings (5-10-15-20)
3. bracelet too shiny

Well since this year-old thread was bumped up, I’ve come to the opinion that customers came to expect more elegance from PP.

The starkness of the neo-glyphic arched upper windows…

Contrasted against the lower concentric circles of confusingly oriented chronograph subdials just fails to impress.

It was bold - like Allen Edmonds trying to make Air Jordan’s - but it’s not what PP aficionados expect.

Could you elaborate on how a bracelet can be too shiny?

I bought one on the gray market with box and papers about four years ago for 65% of retail. It's the watch I have worn most since then.

I use the chronograph more often than I thought I would. I like the annual calendar. The bracelet is comfortable. The power reserve and day-night indications are also useful. I think it's beautiful. I love the way the dial color changes in different lighting.

My two issues with it are, its a little top heavy; and I wish the hands and hour markers lined up more precisely. The points on the inside ends of the hour markers don't correspond with a point at the end of the hour hand. If Patek had ended the hands with pyramid triangles and the hour markers the same way, then the hour hand point would have lined up to the inside end of the hour markers and the minute hand point would have perfectly overlapped the outside, case edge of the hour markers. Precision.

I love it, but with the price appreciation, I go back and forth about selling it.

I agree with many here.
I think it's a great piece. I actually like the bracelet.

I was close to pulling the trigger when it was going for $35-40k a few years back. Now, there is not a single one out there below $70k but it is not worth that kind of money for me.
