tight bezel on 1675 GMT
What is the best way to loosen a tight bezel on a vintage 1675 GMT?
WD40? Silicone Spray? Removing it and soaking it in water with a drops of Dawn soap? Any advice would be appreciated. |

You can try a little silicone grease, but keep the spray away from it. You might want to have a watchmaker look at it. There can be several various issues that may cause the bezel to not turn properly - whether it be too tight or too loose.
Here is a link a put together on diagnosing bezel issues. https://gmtforum.com/viewtopic.php?f...5c31358e4c5cd9

Since it is a press down to unlock, friction fit, about the only thing that can make it difficult to turn is whatever is keeping it from being pressed down and released.
Good cleaning and a bit of silicone or lithium grease should be the answer.

Usually a bit of held grit, gubbins or a V slightly warped retaining ring - Watchmaker can clean/ fix in 5 mins usually !
Popping it off is easy, but getting it back on is a bit of a knack - so perhaps best leave it to a watchmaker unless your loins are girded!

A watchmaker would remove it and decide how to fix it based on an inspection. Could just be a lot of gunk.

I pry off with a plastic butter knife from a fastfood restaurant. Very slowly push in the blade edge and then give a little twist up. Wipe all surfaces with paper towel. Put all parts back exactly the same and pop back into place.

With CRISPR gene editing and recombinant DNA replicants we could reconstruct the original owner, or a Frankenstein combination of multiple owners Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
