Omega Snoopy 50th for 5905-1A trade?

I was offered (by my AD) to trade in my BNIB omega snoopy towards a 5905-1A both at MSRP value (so I put in the MSRP difference of about $52K)

I have 6 speedmasters (three Tokyo Olympics, a sapphire sandwich, a Hesalite and a meteorite grey side of the moon) and only one PP (6119)
I have a bunch of rolex with two sky dwellers (as my annual calendars)

I have been really wanting both watches (the snoopy and 5905-1A) but seems that now I can’t have both!!

Which one would you choose?
I am also posting the same on omega forum to get input as I am really in the middle here!!!
Thank you for any words of wisdom!!

how about selling some of the speed masters and rolex. Then use the cash to buy both?

It’s not a matter of funds. My AD will ONLY sell the 5905 if I trade the snoopy in!!!

Don’t get mad at me but Omega over does with there “limited editions” IMO

I’d do deal that so freaking fast I’d be in my car right now

Snoopy is more versatile for everyday wear. There are other Patek I would make the trade for but that isn’t one of them.

Omega Snoopy 50th for 5905-1A trade?

Would you pay $80k for the 5905 from grey? If so, do the deal with AD and buy another snoopy.

I see the 5905 trading around low to mid 70s which is roughly $10k over MSRP same as snoopy that are trading for around $10K over MSRP

No way I would do that .
If your AD was cool he/she would just sell you the 5905 without making you hand over snoopy.

Yes I would definitely hand them the Omega with the cartoon character to get a steel annual calendar chrono from Patek

Your Patek AD sounds like a grey dealer :)
I have both 5905A and Snoopy, keep both.
Change your AD ;)

sounds like there will be an AD without a patek license soon but I'd do the trade unless you absolutely love the snoopy

If it is the "new" snoopy, I'd flip out. It isn't that special of a watch, IMHO.

Omega Snoopy 50th for 5905-1A trade?

Snoopy is the king of Omega, especially on bracelet. Don’t do it. It’s way easier to obtain a 5905 at retail than a Snoopy.

A big hell-no for me.

Re: cartoon character comments. NASA gives the Snoopy awards to their highest performance partners. It’s the award of excellence. Strapped one on your wrist is an immense honor. If you are a man/woman of science, the Snoopy is pretty much an Oscar on your arm.

There has only been 3 Snoopy Omegas.
The latest Snoopy is the equivalence of Patek Advanced Research…To put it in perspective, Snoopy at its height nearly touches 5905 at retail.

Your AD sucks to even suggested that trade. Get a new one.

I’d do this is 2 seconds but I don’t like the snoopy at all. If it’s an important watch to you then pass.

Doctor, I’m curious how the AD knew about your Snoopy…is it simply because you wore it one day in their shop? To be honest, it sounds/feels a bit too predatory that he would stipulate that you give in the Snoopy. And by extension, does that mean you’ll never get another Patek allocation (5905 or otherwise) from him unless you trade in Snoopy, and whatever else he fancies in the future for every allocation?? I’m sorry you’re in this position, but I worry about the precedent this would establish in dealing with this AD.

I like my Snoopy 50 too much to trade it for anything. So I wouldn’t do it.

In your situation, id do it then immediately buy the Snoopy back at grey market. And if caution against telling your dealer anything else in your collection.

I was so excited when I got the snoopy and texted him a pic (he’s not an omega AD) and when I asked for the 5905 and/or 5726 he flat told me that trading in “a hot watch” as part of the transaction would make my chances much higher
Yes he has a “pre-owned” section at the store, selling at market prices.
So when he called, he said that for me to get the 5905, I will need to trade in my snoopy as part of the deal!

I can think of many adjectives to describe the AD but unfortunately that’s the new reality we live in now!
ADs set the rules and we choose to play by them or not!
I have been holding strong not caving in to any of those games as I have a great rolex/omega AD but for Patek, unfortunately that’s what I have!!

They should sell you the watch at retail or not at all. I’d feel much better about myself paying 10K over retail and walking in there with it on my wrist than taking that offer (not that I could afford it anyway!)

Do you have an established relationship with this AD? Or you are just asking for a hot Patek as your first watch? Even it is your first hot Patek ask, the deal is just odd and I would personally run and not walk to find another AD.

I would feel very offended for the fact that I trusted him and share my collection and then he turns around and try to prey on me. Patek collecting is a long term relationship, I am sure I would not like this AD to be my long term dealer.

To the comments that it is the way things are and the AD dictates all the rules. It is true to some extent but at the same time, many ADs lost their dealership when Patek caught wind of them doing things too out of hand.

I would NOT do this trade purely from an ethics standpoint.....no matter how much I loved the watch.
This is a sickening reality that I would want no part of.
I'd enjoy the Snoopy if in your shoes.

I get the feeling there are going to be less and less ADs in the future. I have heard about this kind of blatant over retail selling from a friend about a Rolex AD on the East Coast and was always confused about the shenanigans- always seems odd to me but we had many threads and people are greedy - but since the second oldest Patek AD in the USA got axed I would not feel as safe anymore if I was a “shady” AD

I heard rumors that the salespeople were promising watches which they could not deliver after some bundled deals and customers complain to Patek?

The entire premise is off-putting, and I’d begin looking for a new AD. This is not at all what I’d expect from an official Patek dealer. This this not « comme il faut » not one bit.
