The lockdowns gave me time to re-evaluate as I was wearing watches at home only. I realised what I really liked, not what other influences suggested I should!!

As much as I like the silver 58 I'd still want something on a bracelet. The blue one would be my choice between the two. Could play the role of your daily watch perfectly.

Can a moderator please ban OP.

How dare you?

Sometimes a change of bracelet or even change of clasp can make a huge difference! Once I put this on a Jubilee I never took it off!

But, each to their own. I hope you find something you can get on with. 20210715_143819.jpg

Have been in a similar situation, you wrestle with the decision to buy, then wrestle with the decision to keep. It takes a while to come to terms, although with me I felt within a week it wasn’t going work. Hopefully the flip won’t cost you much, and then it’s fun to shop again for something else. Cheers!

I think there is a hint here and it's got something to do with why you didn't bond with your BLRO? As in, if you have to ask.....

I've parted with two watches that I couldn't get on with because they both turned out to be uncomfortable to wear. It happens.

You clearly liked the watch!
Why not try the early GMT (the one with visible lug holes), the body of the watch is thinner, the crown winder smaller, no PCL's.....but best of all, the bezel insert being the one made of aluminium has the red/blue more subdued?

Haha, I’m sure for many you are so right but for some it just isn’t the best watch on earth.

And thankfully, that’s why there is so much variety for us to choose from.

Move it on and wear what speaks to you. No need in keeping if it is not the one.

This is NOT a veiled offer for sale but rather an exasperated concern that it is time to move on. I’ve already know it’s potential future home (a trusted dealer who I’ve traded with in the past).

Question now is what to replace it with?
I’m considering a return to Jaeger LeCoultre. Blancpain and Breguet are contenders as well.

Outside shot to trade down to a more simple Rolex and use cash differential for an upcoming vacation.

It's a lousy watch. Trade it in for a TT DJ with fluted bezel in white or champagne.
You will be much happier than that Pagani look alike.

For me, 95% of wrist time has been GMT-Masters for decades starting with a 1978 1675 and now my 16710. I love them, but completely understand not everyone has the same tastes. You've got a buyer in the trusted aftermarket dealer you mentioned, so let him have it and move on to something that speaks to you.

Good luck in your search.

As it happens, I was researching Blancpain yesterday, and am impressed with what they have been doing with the Fifty Fathoms line. I could see one of those offerings as a replacement option. I’m too ignorant about Breguet to comment, and I’d probably only look to JLC for a dress watch. In any case, good hunting!

I agree with what some others are saying. I did the same thing and got out of the new Pepsi and was fortunate enough to jump back in with the 124060. I could not be happier.

OP, I completely understand. I bought a SS SkyDweller last year, was happy as a lark, at first. I wore it almost six months, it just never bonded as you describe. I got rid of it and now where the new sub, I absolutely love it! Wear what you feel is right.

Don’t worry OP. I didn’t bond with many watches people would tell me I’m crazy for letting go… wear what you love…

Sell it move on. I love the look of it, I don’t like the bracelet on the 16710 myself. Personally keeping mine.

A little OT, but for those having a problem with getting a comfortable fit with the 16710 Oyster bracelet, try switching it end for end on the lugs. Somebody here on TRF suggested that and it has made a big difference for me.

You’re not alone. I’ve never been attracted to the 16710 at all. Imagine my surprise, then, when the 116710 came out and I fell in love with it.

Moral of the story - who knows why we like what we like? Follow your heart, not your mind, and certainly don’t follow the crowd.

If I were you, I'd get a modern 11 or 12 submariner. Or, get a Explorer II 42mm.

Not a fan of the Pepsi, Batman, Hulk, Kermit, or the Rootbeer. There basically a black submariner, with different color bezels. I personally prefer to keep it simple.

My SS Submariner Date, 36mm white dial DateJust, and my 39mm white dial OP.
The DateJust gets the most wrist time.

Not a bad mistake, you should definitely be able to get your money back from it and if not, you just rented it rented very cheaply! I believe the bracelet is what turns people off of this watch when they try it on (same for old explorers etc) it feels almost flimsy.

I would get nothing but hate but if I ever come across an older one I like I will have it on a strap of some sort.

If the design is not speaking to you but the size/fit is good, perhaps swap it for a Sea Dweller 116600.
