Day Trip - Isle of Bute

Jumped in the car on Thursday & did a day trip to the Isle of Bute. It’s 40 mins across on the ferry & we we’d pre booked tickets for Mount Stuart House.

For any of the Scottish based guys on the forum - it’s a good day out if looking for something different. The pass for the house/ gardens a bit pricey for what it is but we took a picnic lunch & once finished - found our way down to the beach via the shore path for lunch. You can buy a garden pass only if stately houses not your thing.

The last picture is the shore chapel which we came across after lunch. Seemed to be a lot of elderly people during the week who stuck to the house/ tea room/ close to house. As soon as we headed further afield into the gardens - felt like had place to ourselves

Looks amazing. Thanks for the photos. I was up in Oban, Pitlochry, and a couple of the big cities in the 1980s, but never knew about Bute

That’s really neat.

Can’t imagine the history and the stories that place could tell.

Very nice.

Much like Chewy and my summer home.

Although I rarely see him as I spend most of my time dusting and Chewy is out mowing the lawn.

I was brought up on the West Coast and remember running aground on Bute at Colintraive on a crazy weekend on a boat, my brother still lives a stones throw from Dunoon, it's a beautiful part of the world to be sure.

Great pictures. From my North American vantage point it looks like a Downton Abbey set, LOL.

Stunning. What it must take to keep a place like that running.
