Incoming (New Collector Success Story)
Three short months ago, I established first contact with my AD via phone. Around two months back, my wife and I made our first in-store visit with them to relationship-build and grow rapport.
My wife wanted a very specifically-configured DJ31 -- a higher end piece that clocked in just over 20k. I felt if we were to place priority on that, this would get our foot in the door to help me acquire the pieces I wanted. Unbelievably, last month we got the call for her DJ and were given right of first refusal, which we most certainly did not refuse. My wife was absoutely ecstatic. As for me, I wanted what I'm sure almost every guy goes in wanting: first priority GMT Batman, second priority No-Date Sub, and third priority YG DD 40 President. I was prepared for a considerable wait for all...that was, until I got a call yesterday. I am happy to share my first SS sports watch, that I am shocked to own after only establishing contact with my AD a mere three months ago. For those in the same boat: don't give up, and practice exemplary courtesy with your AD (i.e. I brought the store two-dozen pastries when we picked up my wife's watch last month...those little things go a very, very long way to forge strong relationships). For those who own the No-Date, it's a real beauty. The symmetry and simplicity are what really drew me in. The perfect everyday piece, in my opinion. That is all. For now :) |

Thanks for sharing, OP, and great story. Relationships are key and it sounds like your AD is taking care of you. That Sub is my favorite in the current collection - simple, symmetrical, and easy to wear.

Congrats. The only reason you got that is because of the DJ, don't fool yourself, and you likely won't get the other mentioned Rolex models unless you spend that much more on other items.

As reguested! DJ31, Two-tone everose jubilee, diamond bezel, MOP dial.
This is an absolute stunner. When seen under lighting...considerable sparkles to say the least. |

Double congrats to you and your wife!
Both of you got two gorgeous timepieces within a very short wait time. It seems like you have a very good relationship with your SA, many more will come in your way in the near future if you plan to have more collection.

For additional context, the AD informed me this was the first No-Date Sub they’d received all year, and we’re almost into June. Yikes. It was extremely humbling knowing they chose to dial me up when one actually surfaced. But this was precisely why we made my wife’s watch the first priority, so that we could establish a respectable amount of spend with the AD before hoping for any type of SS sports watch fortune. As you have alluded, hopefully this is just the start! |

Lots of anecdotes indicate Rolex is encouraging ADs to give inventory to first-time Rolex buyers. Check out the pinned thread on Reddit.. wait times seem to be improving.
Nice gesture to give the staff some food. I’m sure they appreciated it… Personally I can’t imagine making a luxury purchase and feeling the need to woo the staff. I just bought a Seamaster 300m instead of a Sub as a result. No wait list, treated great, didn’t have to try to get on an SA’s good side with baked goods and “build a relationship” before shoving thousands of dollars into their hands. (Oh well, my watch has depreciated since I got it, yours probably hasn’t ;) Maybe I am too old school… Rolex SA games sound stressful, life is stressful enough as-is. Luxury purchase experiences should be enjoyable. |

Very nice. Congratulations. That sub does look great with no date. It has really grown on me.
Seems like you were direct about the pieces you wanted and it worked out. As far as gifts... that is a polarizing topic around these parts. lol |
