End of the journey...

...for watch and car collecting. After 14 Rolex watches and numerous cars I've come to the conclusion that these are my all time favorites. And I don't actually need anything more. I've tried newer Porsches and newer Rolexes but for some reason I haven't been able to "connect" them the same way.

Other one is manual 1994, other one is 2001 and automatic.

Maybe they're a bit mundane and unadventurous choices but hey... I like them. That's all that matters.

I just started a very similar thread, minus the car! I know what you mean and being content feels fantastic! The blrn did it for me.

Love the air-cooled 993s! Last of the original 911s.

Thanks. I feel the same way about 16610 Sub.

Well... the bracelet is flimsy and "air cooled".

Thanks. I love all air cooled eras equally. 70's, 80's impact bumper cars, 964 and 993.

But I wanted either 964 or 993 because they have more comfortable transmission and slightly more abilities. In the end it was all about color and what good examples were available. Iris blue 993 won over polar silver 964.

Visited your website. LOVE the MV content! MV is what got me into watches. You should check Narco/Narco Mexico for some cool old school Rolex watches.

Uuuh....993 manual coupe, my absolute favourite.

I have had the good fortune to drive many different 911s...everything from an 80's G Series through to 991.2 GTSs.

However I recently had the chance to drive my friend's 993 manual coupe and I mean I properly drove it, not just a quick blast up the road and I absolutely LOVED it. It was the perfect balance of old school mixed with every day usability.

I currently have a 991.1 PDK C2S, which I love, but since driving my mate's 993, I keep looking on Autotrader for one to run alongside the 991. In my eyes it is the perfect 911

Thanks man. I was just a kid when MV came out. That actually got me interested in CARS, not watches. I realized only later that there were also some nice watches too. What a great series... TV history for sure.

Standing in the window looking at my 997. It’s water cooled but I still love it. I’m still in the collecting mode, but understand how you feel.

It's a GREAT car. I do respect the newer water cooled cars tremendously. They're incredible machines. And on paper they can destroy the old 911's easily.

But for me it's the noise... when you hit the pedal and get to 4000 rpm... it sounds like a chainsaw. And the driving feel on these old cars is very analog.

I've driven both 997 and 991 and I think that 997 feels a bit more traditional. It's quite a lot smaller. Maybe one day I'll get one of those newer ones to keep the 993 company.

Cheers.

Very nice! That blue looks great. Being the contrarian that I apparently am, I used to drive a 911 and wear a 16610…but now I’ve ended my journey with a 951 and a Tudor Jumbo.

Sounds good. 944 is one of the best driving cars ever made.

I went from a 997.2 PDK to the 991.1 PDK. The 997 was a fantastic car, but to me the newer PDK is significantly better than the first generation PDK.

I know a lot of people have said the 991 feels bigger than the 997, but I don't really see/feel it.

Clearly the 993 feels a lot more lithe than my 991 and there is no doubt you feel a lot more connected to the older car, but trust me ALL Porsches are brilliant sports cars. I recently drove an Aston Martin Vantage and absolutely hated it.

Yeah, most people don’t realize the 944 Turbo was the same price as the 911.

Enjoy the 993. That’s an all-time great.

I wish I had a chance to drive a Aston some day.

I've driven two English sports cars Jaguar F-Type and XKR (which is more like a GT... kinda 928 equivalent). I absolutely loved them both... and the sounds. I love Jags... and I think Ian Callum shaped Jags much better than the Astons. Never liked the DB9 looks that much.

From notable cars I've also driven a Ferrari 456 and F430. Amazing cars but they're too flashy for a modest man... and Ferraris are pigs to maintain.

But I agree... Porsche is completely different and my favorite car brand. 991 is a superb machine.

Cheers.

For cruising about an AM Vantage is probably fine and for people who aren't a "driver" the AM will seem great.

But for me, the steering had zero feel, the brakes were rubbish, you could feel the weight of that engine up the front and the back end wanted to go sideways every time you even remotely wanted to push on.

I couldn't wait to take it back and jumped out of it knowing my 911 would have absolutely kicked its arse on any twisty road you would care to show both cars to.

Apart from 911s, I think the best car I have ever driven is a Lambo Huracan Evo. The performance and grip from that thing was incredible. And the sound of that V10...heavenly. But Lambos are very flashy, even if I had the money to buy a Lambo, I'd buy Stuttgart's finest any day of the week.

Very nice...I just sold my '97 manual after 21 years of ownership...used money to help fund a condo at the beach. Don't regret it...but do miss it.

Lots of hobbies in the world, and maybe one day you will come back to watches and cars.

Yes. I know exactly.

Porsches always fly under the radar. Just like plain old steel Submariner.

Lambos are like the Leopard Daytona. Wayyyyyy too flashy.

I will always be into watches and cars. I just feel like I don't have to buy any new ones anymore. I can still read and follow the scene.

I just enjoy of what I already have. 4 old 5-digits and one classic car. That's just a different approach to be into these hobbies as well.
