How to adjust the strap?
Hi all this is my first post. I Just purchased a Sub date which will be with me tomorrow. How hard is it to adjust the strap and remove links? What tools do I need? Are the pins screwed in? I dont really want to go into town at this time of year unless I really have to. Would you advise me not to do it myself.
Thanks Jeremy |

Its very easy to remove link screws if you have a set of good quality jeweller type small screw drivers. But it might fit you ok so wait until you get watch, small adjustments can be made by just moving the spring-bar pin in clasp.

I bent my cheapo screw drivers trying to remove the link screws so gave up and went to my AD for a band adjustment. She told me the screws are put in place with loctite and that I needed to steam heat or immerse the links in very hot water for a few minutes to soften the loctite. Since all my bands were adjusted by her, I haven't needed to try it, but I do have that very nice screwdriver set from her.... and a steam humidifier going....

Its actually easy to do .......... But be very careful if you have no experience adjusting the band as you can easily scratch a link.
You may want to practice on a cheapo watch. |

Hopefully you bought it from an AD. I would get it adjusted there. If you didn't, I would still go into a watch shop/AD. They may charge $5. If they don't charge, I usually tip them $5.

But be careful with 'regular' jewelery stores. One such store scratched the case of my Omega PO while sizing the band and I didn't notice it until I got home. |

Removing the bracelet is quite easy as long as you have the right tools. Bought mine before online from Ofrei. Very good quality. Google: Ofrei spring bar tools. I got the FB-504, but the Burgeon 6825-PF pliers would be a better/easier yet more expensive option.
