Trade SS sports model for a DD?

While I most likely wouldn’t do this because I love my Sub and GMT, but has anyone here sold their SS sports models to get a DD?

I consider the DD my grail and would love to own one someday, but if I really wanted to, I can probably get a DD 36 if I sold both my Sub and GMT. Probably not a good idea right?

I did it! I traded my GMT and Bluesy for a 118238 (DD36) plus cash. No regrets but it was the shortest love affair with any of my watches - YG PM watch was not just for me, not even the El Presidente. Two years later, I traded the DD36 and 116520 for a 116509 and 116622 plus cash.

I Always mull Around the idea myself about trading my 16710 And 16233 both completely sets For a YG DD! But every time I find one I like, I ALWAYS have second thoughts! It’s a tough decision..

You know you will not recoup the depreciation from a DD...... PM watches just loose. The money we are seeing on these older meters first/feet first, great white, red line, etc is crazy money....... Panda? Yeah, crazy money. I don't own a SS watch because I cant image giving up the wrist time to a SS watch. I love em but the grail is exactly that the GRAIL! Nothing is over it. So while I may upgrade one day it wont be to anything less..... $0.02

I probably wouldn’t. I’ve found that whenever I think I found my grail, some time goes by and I’m always eying another.

I think if rather have a few solid SS watches than one PM grail. Besides, SS has become the new PM

Generally yes, but not always. It depends on the deal when you acquired the DD. In my case, the trade value for the watch(es) that I bought was more than what I paid for two years ago.

Very wishful thinking. Yes, for the current asking prices of some SS. For a few thousand more, you can get a PM. Whatever floats your boat.

Get rid of the DJ and the LN and add some cash for a DD.

DD + BLNR would be a great combo.

Thanks for everyone’s response. I forgot to mention that I can’t get rid of the DJ since it was a wedding gift, otherwise I would’ve def went for a blnr or sub + dd combo.

I’ll just wait until I can save up and add a DD, otherwise I know I’ll regret selling the sports Rolexes.

Don’t do it. Do not trade for a watch without micro adjustments. You’ll regret it. Particularly one in PM. I didnt trade for one, I bought one. Took a bath when I decided I couldn’t stand the fit.

Glidelock, easy link, or no deal. Buy a DJ41. You’ll be just as happy.

I traded one of my Exp2's towards my DD and couldn't be happier. I do miss the Exp2, but I love the DD. Nothing like a PM Rolex and the DD is king.

I'd definitely trade the Sub towards the DD...you can always replace later if you want and 6 digit Sub's are at the top of their value right now so you can get max value on your trade.

I traded a SS BLRO/SkyD/cash for a 1 yr old platinum DD 40. I could not be happier. The fit, feel, and look of the DD is superb to me.

Do your research and go try the watches on. For me it is all about the deal as you have nice SS watches. If you could get a modern DD with the box, papers and dial you want at a fair price, I say go for it. What is the worst that will happen? You don't like the DD and then you go get some other watches and you know. It may cost you a little money but that lesion may be worth it. Or the DD is everything you thought and it is a keeper and you are happy.

Fully agree. The grail watch is a moving target. I would not loose solid ss watches that are hard to get for a dd. May be add the dd if I can
