Bark Bezel?

Colleagues - I'm considering a Rolex Day Date 18038 with a bark bezel. My preference would be a fluted bezel, but the watch appears to be in sharp condition. Any comments pro or con regarding the bark bezel would be appreciated. Thanks. Yagl

I expect you could easily find someone who’d swap with you ... like, say, me! I prefer the bark bezel, less flashy and shows scratches less.

BTW, I believe a 18038 should have a fluted bezel, 18078 was the bark version ...

Thanks. You are correct! It's a 18078.

Is the 18078 with its bark bracelet? Have you tried on (or previously owned) a bark bracelet DD?

It’s odd, but to my eye, the bark bezel is less flashy than the fluted - The bark bracelet, OTOH, seems more flashy than the standard version. I think it is because the bark bracelet has all the tiny irregularities which catch the light and glint when in motion. A still photo doesn’t really capture it, but here’s a side by side (in WG) which may illustrate somewhat —
