I wouldn’t be so sure looking at the posters location.

May seem a shock to you but to be fair, even here in the UK the general opinion of both those men is going to several levels “higher” than that of the average US citizen.

I’d imagine for some South Americans they are genuinely seen as heroes or revolutionaries - the truth probably lies somewhere between the two or nowhere, all depends on your position/politics relative to theirs.

Also - just a note, Rolex would still have been seen as a “tool” watch (that old term again) , yes there was prestige and quality but also grade A durability and reliability, can’t knock that.

Considering where they found themselves and what they were doing I’d think that the durability and GMT functions were of some real value.

Rolex being Swiss (and therefore by dafault neutral) wouldn’t likely give a damn about the politics either.

Just my two pennies :)

Wow, some people are quite sensitive. I wonder why is that?! :-)

I sincerely think that those two men are much more worth of 'celebrity' status than the 99.9% of the Hollywood 'celebs'. Hollow vanity and nothing more. At least these men had ideals and fought for them.

I am not defending them for what they did, but they both have my and believe me, not only mine respects.

It is funny how everyone was fixated at the pictures but didn't notice my comment about Rolex and communism/revolution - double standards.

Anyway. It is not all black and white and what-the-media-said, my American friends. Stay safe, well fed and happy! Enjoy your Rollies as I enjoy mine.

Thank you for your balanced comment. Your observation about Rolex qualities as a tool watch is spot on.

This is a watch forum and we all shall be talking watches, not politics. I believe now we we can resume back to posting pics of some beautiful celebs and their Rolex watches!

Favorite celebrity Rolex wearer????

It is a toss up between Pope John Paul II or the Dalai Lama!
