1940s Air-King 4365

Already shown this one to Joe; anyone else like the look of it?

Thanks.

Why yes, yes I do! Subseconds dial is sweet. Where do you keep finding these rare Air Kings?

That air king is pretty sweet, reminds me of the Rolex Corvette I checked out a few months back, while I really like the air king from a historical stand point, I just think you'll be happier strapping the 6424 to your wrist.

I think you're right, Greg, the 64 is in pole position right now. I'm not sure what that dial style is called, but the guy selling it calls it "engine turned". I think the lume dots might be new, though.

I couldn't say if they have or haven't, but I just looked at both of mine and my lume plots touch the back of my stick hands, however it still appears original to me, as it looks right for the dial, the seller didn't mention a relume and states it's all original, I think the seller is smart enough not to relume, plus you don't see any circles or lines around the lume plots from former ones being popped off.

Can't go wrong with either. I do prefer the Air king though. That dial is stunning. Great patina.

It's not often you find a sub seconds 4365. That's AK Genesis.

Easy to forget how far back the Air-King goes ....

Nice to see an old one - the subsidiary sweep hand screams vintage too. Very cool

dipping into a 3 year old thread, I know, but I am curious what the '46 was worth. I recognized the pics you posted as being from a watches for sale site, but the price was not there.

I am asking because I have one also, and it is currently undergoing repair and resto. I need to know the approximate value for insurance when I get it back.

Here is mine today (being worked on):

Those Art Deco numerals are pretty unique for an oyster case Rolex.
I prefer the Air King

Expat - not a WIS here, but I absolutely love the Arabic numerals' font - very attractive and nostalgic quality. Such a fine watch of yesteryear. If a collector, I wouldn't be able to pass it up.

Hello. And new Air King.

Since this thread has come alive again, I'll take a moment to introduce myself. I'm new to Rolex Forums, but not to vintage Tudor and Rolex. Work is kind of crazy, but I'm looking to these forums as a welcome relief from all of that.

I'm SF-based (and spend some time in NYC for work). I especially look around for unique dials from the 40s-50s-60s. To that end, here's an Air King I recently purchased that has blown me away. Complete with a beautiful guilloche dial.

It's amazing to see one in this condition.

Enjoy - and let me know if you have any questions. I love all the sharing!

Hi All, reviving the thread - anyone have a sense for what the '46 AK goes for? Here's a pic of mine - I think the history is really neat and I have a fine example with original crown and all but don't wear it enough to justify keeping it (sorry for fuzzy pic - had to resize on the fly).
