haha. Well, if we are being pedantic, the discount worked out to 17.2%

Still very nice, a family outing to WF better not be the next stop.

If you are are referring to 17.2 and why not 20%, there is admin fee applied...i think

Currency exchange rates.

The USD is about the only major currency to hold stable value and/or gain against the CHF. The GBP has not done well in recent years, and the combination of Brexit and the Swiss unpegging of the Franc to the Euro have contributed to a non-friendly environment for Swiss companies to do business in some currency-denominated countries. The USA, is not a country with such difficulties.

All revenue for Rolex is translated back into CHF, so they naturally will want to capitalize (within reason) on the areas of the market that will give best currency translated profits (other profitabilities within certain markets may make up for certain currency losses, while in other markets these same profit margins/distribution expenses may be tighter and may make distribution even more expensive).

SS pieces also, have the lowest profit margins, so they are most sensitive.

The VAT is included in the price so the discount is 16.66%? Throw in the admin fee and the discount should be less, not more, no?

That makes sense, thank you for explaining.

And congrats OP! No SS sport models when we passed through there a few months back.

No idea tbh. All i know is you get close to 20% off at the airport. The number tends to vary. As a non EU citizen, you can actually get the discount directly from the ADs (in town) and then claim the cash back at the airport before you fly out. So there a few options i guess

I stopped by the Rolex AD in Terminal 2 at LHR last week, and they had a YM with rhodium dial as well as a Milgauss on display, but no subs or GMTIIs. The lady told me they had sold a BLNR to a lucky customer about 2 weeks prior.
Today I went through Terminal 5, and the Rolex AD had nothing of interest available.

It should be noted that all Rolex watches at the airport ADs are advertised with two prices (with and without VAT), but only non-EU residents get to pay the lower price, without the VAT.

Is there something wrong with the economy?

Man, I would have had a tough time resisting that YM.

I find that the Deep Sea black dial is still pretty easy to get hold of , they had two in Amsterdam yesterday and I always seem to see them in uk ADs , what's the reason for this ?
