IMHO I view the 5235 is PP's " avant-garde " model which is not what PP is all about. If one look at the 5235 being a avant garde piece, then all will fall nicely into place. That unusual unique movement with 23040 vibration with Gyromax, Spiromax and Pulsomax, these are all PP Advance Research stuff. That raw silvery dial n the engraved PATEK PHILIPPE wording on the dial and the combination of cool dark blue strap, all spells "experimental" and avant-garde to me. Why 5235 is not well received by the PP fans in general? I think it is all about marketing. PP marketing campaign is all about heritage n luxury. Hence there isn't much rooms for anything else unless they are deem luxury n with heritage n tradition.
To make thing worse, I yet to see an advert on the 5235G on any sort of plublication or media. Just my own opinion. Jen PS. I love mine. |

Frankly, you take a bath on any watch you sell save for a very select few models. They depreciate just like cars.

I also really like this model.
Reads more modern and also like the larger size. I live in a city with no Patek ADs. If any dealer or other associate has one please PM me. |

Got mine
Got mine recently and I understand it's not so popular like nautilus/ aquanaut but it's definitely a collector's / wis piece. Usually, owners of this piece have several PPs. Had to wait from my AD before I got one. The satin, silvery, brushed, grey dial is something else depending on the lighting. It's nice to have something to enjoy apart from the usual nautilus and aquanaut pieces that are sooo popular the past few years to collectors and even non wis enthusiasts who I know don't know stuff about watches and just want to brag and bling their watches. When you're passionate watch collector, you'll appreciate how hard it is to make a new movement and put the seconds in the 6 o clock subdial and have a regulator and annual calendar complications all in 1 watch.

Regulator is a special watch by Patek. These days there is a high demand for the regulator in the UK. One of my friends had asked his local Patek AD for a regulator and he had been told they could not get it for a first time Patek customer. |

Like I said 1,5 year ago, it's not a watch for me as I am not a fan of regulators, but it is interesting

Lovely watch but IMHO Patek should have released it without the AC.
If this was the case it would have been amazing. |

TRF is a niche group of watch enthusiasts. There is definitely a greater emphasis on sports watches, which relates to the Rolex focus.
The 5235 is still not a common watch that one can easily find at ADs. There are still a lot of people, even collectors who own multiple Pateks, who have never seen the watch in person. I don't believe Patek released the watch with the intention of appealing to everyone and it will never reach the popularity of the 5711/1A. However it appeals to those who appreciate Patek's ingenuity in using silicone components in the movement as well as producing their first regulator watch. |

I don't like it aesthetically but besides that I think it's a fail because it isn't technically perfect and isn't that the point of a regulator? The hour, minute, and second hand aren't synchronized and are off as it gets closer to the top of the hour.

The "synchronization" failure is one off or is that a built in technical imperfection?

I don't know but every picture I've seen has shown it this way. Is it because of the way the time was set or is it a built in imperfection? I'd need to play with one and observe for a week or so to really know for sure.

I asked because I own a 5235g n I didn't realize mine is off alignment.. maybe I am not paying enough attention. My long sightedness is not helping too.

Not many for sale
just 9 on Chronos. New with little discount and used around 42K. I doubt most ADs will do much on this watch except for a very good customer.

My AD got 1 pce year 2015. Whole 2016 didn't get one.
2017 just 1 pce and I got it. Sad that it's under appreciated. |
