Not a fan. Strange sunburst blue that seems a darker hue than previous blues.
Hands don't do it for me. Prefer breugets and leaf hands. Look at those sub dial hands and how they jar with the sword hands.
And the diamond markers are unappealing. With the large markers now the lack of balance seems even more pronounced. 5 up top, 3 down below.
Also the new tachometer font and size doesn't gel with the font and size used on the sub-dials.

Pass...

I like it, I dont mind the diamonds. Price seems fair if what i have read in this thread is correct.

The G versions are officially gone from the website.

Thinking my white dial G is safe but will hold final opinion until I see in person.

Diamonds are not sitting well.

Nobody seems to like the diamonds but unfortunately they add a lot to the price given the high quality of the stones. No stones would be better.

I like, agree with above that price aside this watch may make me change my stance on no diamonds on a watch.

With the luminescent hands and the tachy scale does the 5170p enter the arena with the 5370p?

Maybe the dial is close but definitely not the case.

Not for me. Out of all the (too many) variations of 5170 yours is the nicest Gus. Most pure, classical, and suave. But the 5070...ah.

Agree the case of the 5370 is fantastic. Something to be said for the modest 39mm however in such a classic.

This is stunning. Diamond markers are subtle. Love this piece. And considering how much hatred there is for this, I predict it will become an instant classic aka 5524. I recall similar hatred for that piece here last year and now look at that thing. Going over list and impossible to find. This one is a winner.

Love the 5524, it is a great looking piece for me since day one

I'm just not a ménage oops I mean diamond kind of guy

Never say never, Looking forward to seeing it in person.

I would suspect the production run of the P will be shorter than the previous incarnations.

The 5524 is one of them weakest Patek models released in years. I know for a fact that they limited allocation to around two watches per dealer per year in order to keep demand relatively high and the secondary market sparse. Compare the amount of 5960s that boutiques and dealers get with 5524s. Both are supposed to be watches that cater to the young and affluent crowd. But the 5524 has been seriously constrained as a reaction to the lack of demand.

So they keep demand high and secondary prices strong but how long can they keep that up. I mean they have to sell watches to make money and pay the bills. The problem is trying to attract younger buyers with a 50K watch, doesn't matter what it looks like, it's not going to happen.

I read here or somewhere actual USA price is predicted to be 95,000. Makes sense to buy overseas if you want one based the Basel sheets shown. All of the 5170s have not been well received and sell at sharp discounts so I would not chase this watch right out of the gate until you get a feel for the market for the watch. Collectors have traditionally shied away from stones on watches.

I did not know that. Dealers here in the USA do not have them out, but I saw 26 5524s on C...24 for sale. All new, So you may be right they are not selling.
We really need to wait and gauge the market before deciding on a purchase of this size. The overall market is so weak, prudence demands that. I would not even consider the 5170p for at least a year.

The 5524 is a very easy watch to wear and enjoy. I would challenge anyone to try it for a spell and say they didn't enjoy it.

Only caveat would be if the size suited the wearer.

I found it to be a lovely watch on the wrist.

I am surprised to hear that Patek deliberately held back supply of 5524G due to a weak demand. I know the 5524 is a polarizing watch and people either love it or hate it. However there are many other Patek references with a weak demand and Patek did not hold back in continuing to supply ADs with unpopular models even with weak sales.
