The Eagles documentary

Anybody else watched documentary about the Eagles? It came out in 2013, but I just watched it and it was great. I didn't know that they had the number 1 selling album (Greatest Hits) of the 20th century (maybe of all time..) in the U.S. I dig em....some don't...apparently many do!

My opinion of The Eagles is the same as The Dude's. Sorry, I can't abide.

I could never get into the Eagles.

Although I do love the line..."don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy"...

And I love some of Glenn Frey's stuff, especially the Miami Vice era like Smugglers Blues.

I love these documentaries. The Bee Gees, Eric Clapton, The Go Go's, Duran Duran... all of those were great ones. I'll check that one out. I still need to watch The Beatles one on Disney Plus.

Yeah, they overtook Michael Jackson's "Thriller" for the top spot here in the USA back in 2018. Only the USA though. "Thriller" still holds the top spot globally.

I appreciate their songwriting and they have awesome harmonizing skills. While I'm not a big fan I do have some songs that I like. I'll usually turn the station to something else when they come on, though. They got overplayed back in college to the point where I just can't listen to them anymore. I've moved on to other interests in my Spotify playlists.

The band has serious musicians in it. They are fantastic solo artists and in a band they are Great. IMHO

I like them, saw them in Manchester (England) some years ago. Fabulous.

Watching a Fleetwood Mac night on BBC 2 at the moment. I never bought tickets to see them a couple of years back because the tickets were so expensive, on of my big regrets, Buckingham now sacked, they will never be the same to watch without him. The tickets were crazy price, but I should have paid. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh.

I certainly can’t dispute their success but was never big fan. Now Joe Walsh...50 years of brilliance!

I've seen the special which is excellent. And although I wasn't much of an Eagles fan before hell froze over, I became one after and find them to be excellent songwriters, musicians, and performers.

Yes. Great song and line. Some may not be a fan of their music, but I'd find it odd that anyone could dispute the greatness of that song and all of its hidden meanings and the dueling guitar instrumental between Felder and Walsh at the end is brilliant (even better in the documentary...). If you don't like (or at least appreciate..) that song then you need to give back your music club card. Lol.

I can appreciate the skill to play any musical instrument and write lyrics but that doesn't mean I have to like a certain band just because you do.

Everyone has different musical tastes AND those tastes usually solidify in your adolescence which is why teens are the largest buyers/listeners of music. And those tastes generally last a lifetime.

Sorry but the Eagles (Hotel California 1976) missed my age window of appreciation. They were scratching at it but.....like The Grateful Dead, Chicago, U2 and a few others, .....Nope no cigar.

I remember when the Beach Boys were a BIG thing. California music. Incredible harmony, yada yada.....but you loved or hated them.

I saw them in 1988 on the tango in the night tour. Buckingham did the album but not the tour & it defo wasn’t the same without him.

Stevie Nicks voice was shot even then - possibly down to nose damage

You were better off at the time with that money staying in your pocket

That part was fabulous. Still on stage, playing the music, and getting ready to rumble.
