No love for new 5270p green?
Was looking into Salmon 5270p before bring discontinued and grey market premium and was happy to see new 5270p is out.
Green looks interesting and maybe more versatile in long term although not traditional as salmon or black dial. Surprised that I havent seen not even one proper review by mainstream watch review portals (hodinkee, ablogtowatch etc.). Not sure if market not impressed or they simply see it as new color/dial layout and not too much of a novelty? For example cant even catch if the chrono hand is in white and what kind of white (cant see clearly in pictures). Looks like trip to Geneva is imminent. Any views by fellow forum members will be much appreciated, thanks… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If everything is going well, I should see it in the flesh next week-end in Geneva. Will post pictures and feedback if that happens.
I like it a lot but I want to confirm by seeing the real thing. |

Hey Uros,
Usually, I think that green is a less classical color, thus there is a risk to get bored of it. This is subjective and not every regions of the world feel the same about colors (not only for watches but for clothings too, or cars). If they keep on regularly offering green dial in the next years/decades, it will keep on looking good. If it is stopped after let's say 4 years, then it may not age as well. However, I've seen the 5905A green, a watch I wasn't keen to discover in the metal at first but I discovered it isn't green with grey, it is a grey dial with a touch of green. Hence, it is so beautiful and subtle. It started to change my opinion. In the mean time, I tried the 5930P, which also has a lacquered dial (like the 5270P and I think it is an important detail). It looked very appealing. So I've changed. And then, last week, I saw Revolution's video with a few presentations in Patek's booth: the 5270P green looked stunning (so does the 5205 Olive). So, now, I think I really changed my mind on these green dials, and this 5270 mays be one of the nicest in that field. Eager to see it in the metal. |

I think the 5270p with the salmon dial is a hard act to follow. That dial was just absolutely perfect on that particular watch (as was the cream dial on the 5320, where the salmon doesn’t work). The new piece follows that with a very different look, we’ll have to get used to it to truly appreciate it. In addition, the green trend may well be on a downward trajectory, whether permanently or merely to come back with a vengeance in a bit. Altogether, I think we have to give it some time, but personally don’t feel as much of a pull towards this watch as I did with the predecessor.

That would be great thanks! Its also growing on me but have to check it in real life. This lacquered dial how it look under light and white(?) hands if they fit well overall design. See they have increased price which brings it very close to 5370p territory although 5270p slightly thinner and not sure I like blue 5370p, if black would have been still around that would be tough decision at current retail price for 5270p... Thanks for reply and thanks for pointing out lacquered dial, it can really change the view of the watch, someone compared it to classical British racing green which is not bad at all. Lacquered can give it additional twist. Agree green is the current hype and its questionable how it will look 5 years down the road. This watch is definitely long term keeper. Like what they did with fume effect and that you can wear it black strap it brings additional elegance... Definitely to be seen in metal... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

True for salmon. I went to few ADs and was ready to commit without even seeing the watch but it was too late. In the meantime greys increased the price literally within few weeks and I dont feel comfortable paying almost 100k over retail. The only slight advantage with green (subjective) is that you can wear it with black strap which gives it more elegant appearance. See that a lot of salmon owners experiment with straps which could mean they got bored with brown one, black is much more versatile and with salmon its too much contrast. On green it looks perfect... Same here, I was waiting for the salmon 5270P. Overall I prefer the look of the salmon because of the colour, the tachymeter scale, and the numerals at the top half balance the dial in my view. Then again it is a moot point as the salmon is never sold side-by-side with the green 5270P at the AD.
However, the green is also a brilliant presentation. I always like gradient on a dial and this is the first green on a PCC. Unfortunately it is very hard to get as the interest on this piece is very high. I have expressed my interest with my AD but not too hopeful. The 5270J is easier to get though. |

I think the real color is much nicer in person and in video than the official photos. I'm sure there will be plenty of love for it.

Same, I love the J iteration the most amongst the 5270 line.

I much prefer the lack of tachy and the better typeface of the -014. If i already had one nautilus and i needed to choose between keeping/obtaining a second nautilus and this, the decision would be easy - i would be all over this.

Thanks all, so I guess consensus is to wait for first impressions and photo reports from those who are lucky to see it in a wild...

There's plenty of love, but how many of us can actually get to see it let alone acquiring one?

Had a 5270p Salmon for a bit, enjoyed it but traded it in after it was discontinued. IMO, I would save $100k and go for the 5270g in blue, still very undervalued and relative attractive value at ~$150k.

Problem with this one is the “Chin” which i find shockingly unattractive. My humble opinion of course but no idea how that passed approvals and everything.
