Submariner best watch ever produced ?

Not the greatest but one of the most Iconic watches. The Sub may be greatest diver watch ever.

I don't know if I would say it's the greatest rolex ever produced but I will say it's one of the most popular Rolexes & I love mine.

I have several Rolex's, from 2007 to 2015, I recently purchased a 2015 "HULK" Sub, it is a beautiful offering from Rolex and is built like a tank! If you like Rolex, the Sub is a must have for your collection!

Don't get me wrong. I love Rolex and vintage Subs and Sub Dates. Not a fan of the C models.
Best watch or Rolex ever produced? Not even close.
Most would say it's a model with more complicates.

I think the DJ is iconic Rolex. In a very close second would be the DD then toss it up to any number of sub configurations.

Absolutely! The ability to micro-adjust throughout the day is amazing.

My dislike of the Sub and the "image" around it kept me away from Rolex. I agree with the comments of Rolex is better defined by the DJ and DD and probably the Daytona. Next on my list would be the Omega Speedmaster moon watch. Then maybe the sub. In terms of "iconic" I would put it to middle-back of the 1st round. (since we are in the middle of the NFL draft)

To be honest, before I started reading this forum I would have never considered the Sub, now, I can see myself getting a ND Sub in the future. But it's down on my list and the Sea Dweller would probably get picked over the Sub for my collection.

Seems like there are two groups of Rolex owners. The ones who start with a Sub, and the ones who eventually end up with a Sub although they don't really like the prospect :)

The subs evolution has come so far it now seems almost impossible that any further improvements could be had , the sub is like the Picasso of the watch world .

I view all Rolex models as greats to be honest but for me many years ago the Submariner was the first Rolex I seen and wanted one from that point, so not the greatest but one of a long list of Rolex greatest models in my opinion and yes I now own a Sub c at long last

It seems the love for the submariner is immense and we've almost all owned one at some point or currently have one or more !

No other model seems to have that mass market appeal .

I carnt think of a reason why it isn't the best Rolex of all time because of the love it's given to so many

I suppose you might say that the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is the most copied design..as it predates the first Submariner and includes the key features of the subsequent Sub.
In truth, given the strict requirements of a real divers watch...when their performance actually mattered to divers...various models will end up looking quite similar. The essence of the Sub is that it was so well-made by a very prominent company.
I've owned several; now I seem to prefer Grand Seiko for a divers watch, a Rolex for everything else. Perhaps it's age?

Actually the DJs out sell the Subs so if market appeal is the deciding factor that would make the DJ the leader.
