I could be wrong ... but I think that's how it works with how much more expensive the stainless steel version is.
Yes, that’s correct. It’s also sapphire on the titanium and ceramic models.

then, I may opt for the model with the sapphire crystal ... us WIS know that sapphire is the way to go.

I briefly owned an aluminum Series 4. I really liked it, but the Ion-X Glass scratched very easily. I now have a titanium Series 5. It definitely has a much more premium feeling and it’s nice to know that the sapphire display isn’t going to scratch like the glass one.

I read an article that said that Apple went with the glass screen for their sport models because it’s also less likely to shatter (vs sapphire) so it’s better for sport applications, but yea, it’s mostly a scratch thing.

As far as functionality and features go, there’s really no difference between the aluminum, stainless steel, titanium and ceramic versions. You basically pay a premium for the upgraded materials and the sapphire on the SS, titanium and ceramic.

Even though I’m a big fan of the Apple Watch, I would go for the aluminum model, especially since the other models depreciate much more rapidly. In theory, the watch should be able to go four or five generations before it can’t upgrade to the latest software. Replace the battery, and it should go even longer, although you’ll lose the latest functionality.

If I’m going to spend $700+ on a watch, I’d rather spend it on a nice mechanical timepiece ,like a Hamilton. The aluminum Apple Watches are a much better value, IMO.

She said no. Kind of adamant about it lol

But me and the wife thinks she should have one preemptively.

My wife wears one all the time and stopped wearing her Rolex. She prefers the Apple for the light weight and functionality. For her the Rolex was jewellery not a mechanical marvel.

I love my Apple phone but I will always prefer a mechanical watch.

For workout related stick with Apple rubber. Very few people know that only Apple and RM (they uses an even more expensive version FFKM) uses fluoroelastomer for their rubber strap, it's pretty much the best rubber you can get.

Frankly it's overkill for a watch strap (I can see why RM does it because they like to brag about exotic materials they use) but I guess Apple does it because they can.

FYI, I wear an Apple Watch on my right wrist, and a real watch on my left. Almost always.

Apple Watch not for telling the time, but for safely viewing IMs as they come through, email snippets, general updates from my iPhone (iOS 13 is much more intuitive, it tells me things like traffic and travel time during a regular commute, and it learns what that regular commute is, even when it's weird and has one day a week exceptions), updates from my security system and security cameras, etc., etc.

It's my link to my phone, which is my link to the internet and the world.

To tell the time and other things? I look at my left wrist. :)

It's not a watch, it's an iPhone on the wrist.

Enjoy! Did you get three aluminum models?

As others have said, get the Apple sport bands for working out and even for daily wear. They're very nice. There are also some nylon options as well.

If you want to dress it up, try the Milanese loop. Very comfortable and infinitely adjustable. So is the link bracelet, and considering how it's made, it is actually a bargain.

As with traditional watches, if one wants the metal bracelet, it's less expensive to bundle it with the watch than buying it separately.

Got one for fitness tracking purposes. 99% of the time, I wear it on my bicep and still wear a real watch on the wrist.

My wife (who is absolutely not a watch person) has one and can't live without it. I have toyed with the idea of getting one but I can't justify the purchase for a watch that i'd probably only wear to the gym/working out. I feel as though (and I could be wrong here) that the Apple watch is a device that gets better (and more useful) the more you wear it; i.e. the fitness tracking. I also love my mechanical watches too much to not wear them, and I would never wear both at the same time. Ultimately, to me, the Apple Watch would have to be an all or nothing; it either becomes your only watch or you don't have one.

So we’ve had it for a few days... it stays in my watch drawer. But my daughter/wife loves it. They wear it daily.

That describes my problem exactly. I figured I’d try. At the moment, getting healthy trumps my love for my mechanical watches. Once I drop 25lbs, the Apple Watch vanishes and I’m back to my watches. If a $1400 Apple Watch helps get me into shape, it will have been so worth every penny.

The watch costs approximately $250 bro. Not 1400

The new Hermès version is $1400; wouldn’t be my choice if I just wanted to try one out (especially for fitness reasons) but hey, different strokes for different folks
