Now the after shots

After Restoration:
I included a shot of the Hallmark on the back of the case to show how perfectly polished PP is able to polish a watch. The hallmarks are very crisp.

The dial was pretty messed up with marks between 3-5. And an overall dull hue (some call patina) to the dial. The pearl minute marks just POP on this watch as do the hand and baton markers. The watch is as NEW

Hi James,

Stunning watch, absolutely beautiful. Would you mind confirming the reference? And also if you don't mind the year? Have you had it since new? What sort of wear has it had?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm thinking of getting a 5196 and just wondering how well these simple references hold up? It will be a lot of money for me and want to know that it's something that frankly will last at least my own lifetime, and hopefully my children's.

Any advice/info greatly appreciated!

This watch is a Ref 570. Manufactured in 1952. You can see my before photos. The watch was in decent shape but tired looking. I have had watches from the 1920's and 1910's from Patek and they DO hold up for continuing generations.

James, Patek did a fantastic job. May I ask how much they charged for such a restoration and how long the process took, please?

i sent the watch to HSWA in NY in early Jan. The estimate took about 3 weeks. They shipped the watch to Geneva in mid Feb. I received the watch back in late Aug. The estimate indicated 27 weeks for restoration.

The following was done to the watch:
Disassembly and examination of all components
Cleaning and replacement of basic movement parts
Refinishing of the bands
Replacement of the plexi
Regulation and timing of the movement
Encasing
Full Quality Control according to PP specifications
Extract from the archives
Replacement of the protection glaze on the dial
Polishing of the dial plate
Straightening of the lugs
Polishing
Pin Buckle for appropriate age
20x14 Padded and stitched strap
Yellow gold spring bars (2)

Total cost $4800

Even though the watch is 60+ years old. It does carry a 12 month PP warranty.

This is the 4th watch I have had restored and I have always been amazed at the finished product.

I have not opened up the back of this watch, however the movement is just as amazing!
