basically end links and bezel are solid gold, the crown is .6mm gold capped and the links are gold capped .25mm thick. Again, this is apparently "thicker" than standard gold plating.

Hey I blame the watch, it just makes everything seem more golden. In some ADs the lighting just makes everything go yellow on my cam and I don't bother correcting it after, altho some kind folks here do.

To be honest I thought it was the reflection from one of your many fine gold watches.

Tried it on two days ago and was underwhelmed. It's a thick piece and a bit clunky on smaller wrists. A real pity as I was hoping to have it be my first Tudor

Perhaps the lack of date on the eta models. Then the shield logo on the newer ones; loved the rose logo on the dial and could probably live without the date after all. Maybe I could even come to terms with the shield, got no problems with it, just liked the rose a bit more.
All this until Baselworld. I'd never thought I'd like TT other than a Rolex but that S&G Black Bay not only looks gorgeous but appears to tick all the right boxes for my next piece as well:

- The lassic look I've been after
- Date function
- NO crown guards and a large crown
- Non-ceramic bezel (to go with the 1st point)
- Two Tone which is bonus for a dressier look

Now remains to see one in the metal and how it wears on the wrist, especially under a shirt cuff (which I'm afraid will be on the thick side or maybe not?). So what do you guys think, especially those of you who own or have tried one on?

Very cool....I want one...

The bracelet is just capped center links and for that reason, I am out.

While I really do get this, its not a deal breaker for me.

It is confusing though. Considering the solid gold end links, solid gold bezel. Then they added an almost solid gold crown and .25mm thick gold (I'm assuming that measurement is each side of the link so basically .5mm overall) links. It couldn't have cost that much more to just do all solid gold links instead of almost solid gold. It would have added slightly to the price, but would have avoided the somewhat negative perception it is getting now for that choice. No matter what the difference between capped gold and plated gold, the perception will always be "plated" for most people.

Have to agree.

Gold plating (or "capping" if one prefers that term ) is more Michael Kors than Rolex.

the terms are very different not just word choice, but functionally different... hence the confusion/perception

And still not "solid" gold. So its lose lose for tudor here in the perception game

This watch looks great. Yet another on my " to get" list even tho I have a TT Black Sub. Definitely as good as it's Rolex counterpart and a third of the price. This and the Omega Trilogy smashed it this year at Basel where Rolex should of stopped at home!
Just my opinion

On the list 📃

Thanks everyone for your input.
The last couple of days I've been searching the wider Shanghai region with the hope of sourcing one. I even had some friends hunt it down in Singapore too but no joy. On a side note, I had the opportunity to try a red one on bracelet and assuming the case is same, we're all good thickness-wise.
Then I called central distribution in Athens and guess what...It's in shortage and there's a waiting list. Fortunately not a long one but a list nonetheless. I didn't really see that coming but apparently S&G enjoys substantial popularity already (or some aggressive marketing ) Anyway, long story short, I just added my name on it for mid-July.
The only problem is that I won't be home before the end of November so the watch will be picked up by the Mrs. On the bright side though, at least I'll have one more thing among others to look forward to and an early Christmas gift...

Out Vote for me. I can't stand the hour hand. No idea what they were thinking there.

They were thinking it would be more legible under water. "They" being French navy divers who recommended the design to Tudor for their Subs in the late 1960s. They found the Rolex-style Mercedes hands too small and hard to see at depth.

its an acquired taste. While i don't have a tudor yet, i used to hate the hands. The more i looked at them the more they became tolerable, and then i started to like them.

Give it time.

I know what you mean, the snowflake hand takes some getting used to. I used to dislike it, too, but now I prefer it to the Mercedes hand. I own both, and find the Tudor more legible, especially in the dark. Tudor lume does tend to be better than Rolex, anyway, though.

I have tried a S&G with bracelet on at a Geneva AD. Such a gorgeous piece. Size and bulk were rather surprising to me but not a show-stopper. Those attributes put it more towards sports than dress despite the precious metal. It is definitely understated compared to its TT brethren. I like that. It's cool. It's different.
Here is my dilemma though. I crave it badly. There is a sexy and novel quality to it with the brushed gold finishing and gilt dial......but how will I feel about it in 6 months? My passion might wear off quickly. Trying to prevent an impulse purchase here.

For 3K more one can get decent TT pre-ceramic bluesy instead. Less smitten by it just now but I have a sense I'll be happier in the long run.

Highly recommend owning at least one iteration of the Black Bay. The BBN is my fave but think that the S&G is great too, especially on the strap. Consider getting the RubberB strap to complete the package.

I want one of these very badly as well.
I am worried about the height of the watch fitting under dress cuff and the capped gold links.
However I do love the 70HR power reserve and the sexy good looks.
Would be interesting to see on a Rubber B as well like posted above.
Best of luck to you

it's Tudor - beautiful sister of Rolex

gold-plating? keeps the Price down. who cares.

beautiful TT Piece...

since it is a diver watch I would expect some anti-coating stuff on the Crystal...much nicer to see the dial in the same colours regardless of sunlight, and it is a diver's watch after all -

I am not a fan of the Tudor BB models, but if you like it, then I would not long or the Sub and save money with the BB. great Quality on par.
