5712a Vs 5164a

Ignoring the fact I have a 5167a as that may be a short lived family member.

You can tell I'm new to PP as I've only just been made aware the 5712a is priced on par with the 5164a, for some reason I had the 5712 in my mind just under 30k gbp.

I can't see me having more then one PP at a time and feel if I'm to have just one it needs to have a compilation.

So I was originally thinking of flipping the 5167 for the 5164 but now the 5712 has entered the ring.

Thoughts please

I prefer the 5164. Add a 5711 later on

As you know I'm quite fond of both sam. I think the 5712 would offer the most variety seeing as you have your 26400 on black rubber.

Then again, you don't like blue dials I thought?

Sometimes best to stick to what you love and if that's a black face and rubber strap then so be it!

This.

5712 is purely a love or hate type of thing. I personally don't like the dial layout, but can appreciate that others enjoy it. On the other hand, 5164 is a fantastic looking watch to me.

Between those 2 I'd take 5164, but if it's going to be your ONLY Patek I'd go 5712. I think it's a better representation of the brand.

I'll go for 5712 if I've to pick one from those two.

To me dial of 5712 was more interesting, so that was my choice.

tough call as the 5164 is much more under the radar where as a Nautilus is not. No one says anything about my 5164 but i have gotten a lot of comments on the 5712 so far. I tend to lean toward being low key as the more positive attribute.

5164 is more practical as far as usefulness where as the 5712 has one of the most unique dials out there. 5712 also wins in the movement comparison.

Considering you would pair it with a ROO on a strap, the 5712 would probably be a better pair.

If i could only have a 1 watch collection though i would pick a 5164 as it covers pretty much everything.

Both are gorgeous, but if it is your first Patek , I will recommend the 5712A , nautilus is my first choice , aquanaut comes as an addition

Seems to be a split decision!

Luckily I know a UK member who has both so I might try and arrange seeing big side by side (he doesn't know it yet )

Both are looking to be an ETA of next year so I have a while to decide I really think I might let the 5167a go sooner rather then later as I know it will devalue if marked and currently it's not even been out of the house, shame as I do really want to wear it but I know it's a compromise on what I really want.

On a big plus having the 5167a at home has really allowed me to appricate the brand and it has a wonder delicate finish compared to the modern angular finish to my ROO.

My nature of wear will have the ROO as the top dog on wear but don't think anything can beat a nice PP for the finer moments in life

I can really see my collection evolving to the 116600 as my daily the 44Ti as my weekend warrior maybe with a ROC or 15202st as a companion and a PP for when class is required

It does look good but feel the impression of a bigger case with the 5164's pushers and the 5712 having the bracelet will help the watch flow better with my wrist size.
Plus a PP does need an added compilation..
