Hi from Hong Kong

Hey everyone

Well I'm an Aussie guy living in Hong Kong and I've always liked watches but I think it's living over here for 4 years that's really got me hooked! There's just so many watch shops and so many people into nice watches over here it's virtually impossible not to be seduced!

I just bought the new GMT Master II with ceramic bezel in SS and I think it's the most beautiful, perfect watch I've ever owned (or seen!). But that's just me!

Thanks for the great forum.

Welcome from Chicagoland, USA. Hope you enjoy your stay here. Please post a picture of your watch. I am interested in adding that same watch to my collection in the future.

Hi James,

Welcome to TRF. I've been to HKG several times between 1994 to 1998 whilst my older daughter was a Flight Attendant for Cathay Pacific. The wifey and I paid just 10% of the return fare.

Loved the place. Even bought a TT Black Sub from Zurich Watch Co. on Nathan Road way back in '94.

What a vibrant city!!

I was in Hong Kong in 1976. I wish I knew then what I know now. We were there so long that everything we bought back was duty free. I should have bought a Rolex then. I sure looked at them but, at age 19, didn't realize what this watch would mean to me some day.

Hi, and welcome James. You chose a cracker of a watch I bet your already planning your next ROLEX This Forum is so good, it should be mandatory for all ROLEX Employees and Dealers to be a member, and their Bosses should have regular 'Thread Topic Discissions' on a weekly basis

Interesting at first glance. The company I work for made us sign an agreement that we would never post on message boards "as representatives of the company". If we "go under cover" and get caught, termination.
Sure would be nice to see some Rolex employees here "under cover".

Welcome James, Greetings from Singapore!
I frequent HK too, visit there at least twice a year, I will be there in Aug, for the Annual Food Fair. Thinking of buying a Sub/date.
What's the current price after discount. Please help to check can?

Thanks,

Hi Danz

I think the sub date is now about $HK 42,000, less about 10%. I could be wrong but I think that's about right..

How does that compare to Singapore?

Best,

James

Hi Mark - I paid $HK 50,000 but no discount this time. I found it pretty hard to actually find a dealer willing to sell me one and loved the watch so thought I could live with no discount..

Cheers
