Icon7 My wannabe GMT - the watch that started it all :)

26 years ago, my godfather gave me this watch for my 12th birthday. A Breil OKAY Manta (with nipple dial - LOL). I LOVED that watch! I was obsessed with the lume and would stare at it for hours every night , But then I started hating that damn watch... the distorted reflections in the cheap acrylic crystal , the bezel was always popping off, it's a miracle I never lost it with the pins bending and snapping every few months

Ever since I always wanted the real thing. I would bike for miles every week to check out the GMTs a few towns over; what those ADs must have thought of a 12 year old kid asking to try on Rolex GMTs!! But I never could convince my father to blow $1200 on a watch for me back then... now I rub it in his face every time I tell him I had to pay $4000 for that same watch 25 years later!!

The third picture after replacing the insert with a NOS one from TempoKing (thanks Anastasios!!)

Enjoy :)

Good on you Paul for keeping this watch! I have kept an old Acutron that my mother gave me back in 1979. Glad I did!

I'll have to post a photo of it someday.
