Breeder/Beater combo 5513/SKX013

Just wanted to post a photo of my breeder/beater combo

I love my grandfathers > fathers > my 1967 5513 dearly, but my SKX013 gets worn more often outside the office and honestly I love it just as much in a different way. I can't think of a better value for the money watch than the SKX.

That’s a great combo, and I agree that the “beater” watch can take on a great deal of meaning. For me, though I try for a combo that looks much different. For me now, it’s my seiko Arnie and sub/speedy.

Great combination. My Seiko's get more than the share of wrist time.

Would love to see your lineup.

My sub just got the jubilee which makes it closer to the SKX, but I don't mind.

I also have this 1967 Helbros Skin Diver which is on a calfskin strap that i throw into the lineup.

Nice. Having the jubilee for the sub adds to the versatility. I have a seiko arnie, 16610, speedy pro, and a hamilton khaki in rotation. While my sub and speedy also look similar, the strap options really change it up.

I love the history of the Seiko Arnie from Predator, too big for me to ever wear though.

It’s about the same lug to lug as my sub. I don’t think I can really pull it off, but watching that movie really started my interest in watches.

The original Arnie is not that big. The newer version is. 50.2mm lug 2 lug x 14.7mm tall x 47.6mm wide

Totally agree! I just got a lumed sapphire planet ocean style bezel insert for it from LCBI.com and it elevates to a whole new level for a watch that has $275 invested in it.

That a great duo for sure. I wear my SKX an awful lot as well. It’s a fun one for sure

My SKX Pepsi is my daily beater. My no date sub also a favorite. Jubilee on a sub is hot.
The planet ocean bezel on the SKX is also a hot look
