Leather strap on 5712/1a ?

The Patek Salon in London tell me this is not possible (i.e. to switch over to the strap and deployment from either a 5712G or a 5726). So we have the "official" line from Patek.

Anyone tried it unofficially ?

This question pops up fairly often. I believe the general consensus is that you cannot do it.

From what I've learned on this forum is that it is possible if you can get the proper end links from Patek. Getting the end links from Patek I'm told is not a possibility or perhaps not fiscally prudent.

Thanks think that about covers it ! Yes, I suspect I knew in my heart that they would want a grand or so for the links, 1500 for the deployment, 500 for the strap etc etc. so doesn't make a lot of sense even if possible.
