Sea-Dweller feel on wrist compared to SKX007/9
Does anyone have experience wearing the SKX007/9 and 16600 or other comparable–sized Sea-Dwellers?
If so, do you think that the size difference-slightly smaller but thicker Rolex–makes the SD feel bigger, heavier, or no different than the SKX on the wrist as a daily 'driver?" For reference, with all this "stay at home" I've realized I haven't taken my nato-strapped SKX007 off the wrist for over a week, including to sleep (Just read that Tiger Woods sleeps with his Deep Sea, so I'll assume this is o.k. ). That is the same daily-drivability I hope to get from owning/wearing a 16600 Sea-Dweller, but don't get from my SUMO (which of course is meaningfully bigger). Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

I've worn them both, and just sold my SKX173 which i'm pretty sure is the same case / movement. THe SeaDweller is definitely heavier and a little top heavy to me where the SKX007 was far more comfortable - really didn't notice it on my wrist like i did the Sea Dweller. Keep in mind, i've got small wrist ie 7"

I own a SKX009 and a SD43. The flatter case back of the SKX is more comfortable on my wrist but I’d say they wear about the same overall.

I had the SD 116600 for a few years, and I have a SKX007. As others have noted, it’s the protruding case back of the Sea Dweller that makes it less comfortable than the SKX. It’s not terrible, and the glidelock helped (although the 16600 won’t have glidelock), but it’s the main reason that I ultimately sold the SD.

The SD does not wear as good as the SKX. The SKX does not wear as good as a SBDC063.

I have the SD4k 40mm and the SKX, the sea dweller sits lower on my wrist as the caseback is buried into my wrist between the bone, its supremely comfortable but i suspect this depends on your wrist shape. I also disagree with the top heaviness, the sea dwellers have very solid bracelets unlike the SKX jubilee which distributes the heft much better around the wrist
keep in mind I also have mm300 which is very slab sided and sits flat on any wrist protruding the full 15mm from the base of the wrist bone, so i consider my SD one of my slimmest wearing divers lol

I prefer the crown at 4:00 for comfort. i find heavy watches with a 3:00 crown can become bothersome.
