5711 with deposit

After calling around to numerous AD's, the common theme sounds like the wait times is atleast a year for this piece. What about with a deposit, does this speed up the process anyway?

5711 with deposit

Depends, if the person in front of you in line decides not to buy their piece. If not, wait time is usually 10 months to a year in the US. Deposit doesn't speed up the process, just guarantees you a piece delivered within a given time frame.

Make sure it's fully refundable and I would not even consider giving more than 1000. They could fold and you'd be out your deposit.

One AD I called asked for a 12.5k deposit with no guaranteed delivery date. Estimate was 2 years.

hard pass.

I once had an AD ask for 6k for a daytona. Laughable.

Truth is a deposit makes no sense at all on a 5711. They don't need assurance you're a serious buyer. Those watches sell themselves well in advance.

I agree the deposit should be unnecessary. I did end up putting down a deposit with one AD because they quoted me 6 month delivery with a small refundable deposit and that was by far the best offer I saw.

At least the AD is willing to entertain a deposit. In HK, none of the ADs even bothered to compile a wait list.
