Here you go, one outdoors under a cloudy sky, one indoors by the window.

Am I the only one who likes the predecessor, 25940OK, more?

Or with the rubber polished

Sorry, but just the dials on the 26401's 01 or look better.

This is the exact watch/dial that I had but within a couple of weeks of getting my 44 I sold it, it suddenly felt really dated and as it was just serviced with a new bezel I decided it was the best time to sell. The design of the 44 is in a different league which also adds to the way it sits on the wrist and it's comfort.
I also read somewhere that RM had some input in the 44 design, not sure if this is true perhaps someone can confirm?

The sad thing about the rgrc is the resale if bought new from a dealer, when I was selling mine I had offers as low as £14k! Unfortunately that watch always reminded me of bad luck as I bought it 1 month before the 1/3rd price realignment so it was a constant reminder of getting screwed.

Well I wasn't aware of AP when the first version of the 44mm RG came out, but I remember reading on here that they had a pretty big reduction in price too. And of course so did the platinum.

Seems AP doesn't mind screwing people on PM watches :). Guess the trick is buy when it's super low (hopefully like now), so that they can't justify dropping it any lower.

Luckily at the price it is now, they fly off the shelves literally.

He probably means predecessor in spirit, which it is.

For me it was a lot of money but I decided that I would use the situation to buy the platinum 44 which had previously been a really crazy price. It took me about three years but last April I was able to order it.

I must also point out that whilst I did feel that I had been screwed from a financial perspective AP have gone out of their way to make it right with numerous free gifts and invites to their events, some of these events have included golf days with Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter at Sunningdale, you can't buy that.

Same here, the RGRC was the first watch I held up, I remember I was at Selfridges, and thought damn this is a mighty fine watch, but a few years later and with the 44s now out this is a bit dated, but I'll always think fondly and nostalgically on it.

That is the least they can do. You essentially already paid for those :). But it's good to see they were making it right.

Did you buy from the boutique or AD?

RG RC will always be awesome. For me, all the older 42s are nicer than the newer ones. Panda, Volcano, Navy, Bee ... Great watches. I do love the new Navy though.

Since the 44s, it looks like AP gave up on the 42s. I honestly wouldn't mind the 42 over the 44 if they came out with good designs.

Same sentiment for me. Once I got into 44mm pieces and ceramic Diver both my SS & RG RC which I loved dearly looked decidedly dated - so sold them both and just had to take the hit.

Awesome JLC. For 44's I think I prefer the new dials, for RG and CE.

About the 42mm's the only one I really love is the ce diver, others are nice but nowhere near as nice as the diver or the 44's, I did hesitate selling the diver and getting a 44, but decided to keep it, it's awesome and out of production with low production numbers, perfect for me

Yeah, these 42s are almost like my AP version of Rolex vintage red subs etc, as I'm too young to remember those or the 5402. Maybe in 20 years these will be the sentimental pieces to have...

Lots of lovely modern classics there Colin, I remember when I first held the RG RC I never thought I'd be able to get one, I only had a SS DJ and was saving up for a PO at the time. What happy innocent times... oh how TRF corrupts.

Thanks -The JLC EL2 is a really cool piece, and only 200 ever produced. At the time it was between that piece and the 44mm AP RG.

Same here my CE Diver is a keeper

Thanks Neil, it was a Grail piece for me at the time, never thought I'd drop that much cash on a watch - oh yeah TRF certainly corrupts, in a good way
