Any brand comparable to NOMOS?
Its reasonable price-point and capability of in-house movement is what I was looking at. I just could not find a brand that manufactures a timepiece with full inhouse movement for about 2-3k. Anyone knows a brand comparable to NOMOS? (I already have a NOMOS and I love it except for its somewhat too modern of a design)

I have not found a peer to Nomos. Family owned independent with in house movements.........for $2000 (and up). I have a metro PR but was thinking about picking up a new campus club. $1600. Can't beat it. The colors and dial configurations are less "modern" in my opinion.

For your budget, I would look at something gently used by Grand Seiko.

Gently used as opposed to new will open up many options.. I second the GS suggestion and going used also opens up Cartier (which indeed would be out of budget new)

Went to a pesentation on their in house movements. I am impressed. Also, this year is the Tank's 100th anniversary. That is a true classic.

I would go with cartier also. Santo 100 Large is a great piece and could be bought between 3-3.5k.

Breitling, you can pick up a really nice watch with sapphire crystal, COSC movement, water resistant. I would get a GMT Avenger II, its an amazing watch for the money!

I am picking up a Club Campus for sure. That Cali dial is incredible. The 38 Club date in gray is A looker as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm growing quite fond of the Ludwig.
Will probably pick one up in the Fall. http://www.nomos-store.com/en/Watche...teel-back.html

I also recommend Cartier.
The Tank is one of my favourite watches ever made, still after 5 years of ownership I find myself just staring at the dial. It's a magnificent watch. |

I would look at Junghans - slightly lower price range, but very neat :-)

This! Or, if you want a different style, Oris. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five range is great value, and just a great watch, period. |

In that price range, I was thinking a modified top-grade ETA movement would be "enough", but, point taken, thanks. |

I would also consider a Tudor with in-house movement for under $3K from a gray seller.

I have no commercial interest in it, but look at the site WatchBuys. They import German watches including Nomos. I am a Sinn fan. Junghans is a good brand, too. These watches are moderate in price. I would call the average Rolex expensive.

I'm in the "as long as it's a good accurate movement I couldn't care less if the movement is in-house" camp...my Tudor Ranger, with a modified Top grade ETA 2824-2 is easily once of the most accurate piece I have. Sent from my F8132 using Tapatalk |

That's quartz right? How do you find the quartz? The price is tempting in quartz range and am considering one.
