I must be getting old and grumpy...

...because I just sold off all my modern Rolex!? SubC gone. Daytona gone. DSSD gone.

Ordered a "new" 5513

I still have my A-series 16610 (on the wife's wrist) and 16600 (good daily beater), I'll be adding some more vintage, I think. Somehow I just feel they have more "soul" even if the modern ones clearly are "better" watches. And I still have my other non-Rolex pieces.

Oh well, we'll see how long this paradigm shift lasts... :-)

I'm with you. I love the dial on the 5513 and the SD 16600 Kicks Butt.

Uhhhh I can see why you'd do it, that is an excellent example of a MF 5513! Congrats!

You can always get those modern pieces again later but such beautiful MFs aren't easy to acquire (and its hardly a $$ issue, its just that they're not offered for sale very often, publicly or privately).

I have been feeling myself tilting in the 'old and grumply' direction as well - and I'm 'only' 36. I know the day is drawing close that I find a well-preserved 1680 and make it my daily wearer.

P.S. - Ken, as that day draws closer I'm bound to start bending your ear a bit for advice!

That looks to be a CRACKIN' nice piece

You did the right thing.........I still have the modern pieces, but I have gotten to the point that I don't wear a Rolex unless it has a plexi crystal.

I originally thought this was your thread, Bob, but then I realized the OP said must be getting old and grumpy.

Great watch, PSV! That's awesome.

I've had both a 5513 and a 1665 before, but both weren't really strong specimens, which inevitably makes you dissatisfied with them. The real thing doesn't come cheap or easy, as with the rest of the things in life, there are no shortcuts. Really looking forward getting my hands on this one next week.
